Here you go http://www.mongooseexhausts.com/ . Used to have one of their DTM exhausts on my old golf and it was pretty good value but it was a wee bit of a bitch to fit since the company I got it off sent the one for the big bumper model (you probably didnt get the small bumper model) and the exhaus...

Its not all that uncommon for cranks to be made in more than one piece although admittedly far more uncomon nowadays due mainly to material improvements and machining improvements (imagine the deflection of a straight eight crank made of crap quality cast iron, or whatever he would have used, when t...

Wastegates
Okay then, Ive been looking round this forum for a while and seen all the posts concerning boost controllers and all that jazz and yet I dont see anyone mentioning directly swapping the wastegate on the turbo, or even for that matter just uprating the spring and diaphragm. So, to get to the point, w...

Have you by any chance fitted new bushes of any kind as I had a simiar problem on a golf when I swapped the anti roll bar (swaybar to u) drop link bushes and didnt do one of the bolts up properly, give all the bolts in the area thats squeeking a good torque up as it can be hard to tell wether theyve...

Hey Golden Oldie, just to clear up the yankisms, a swaybay is an anti roll bar m8. Just btw, if your after only slightly stiffer suspension then you would probably be OK using stock Turbo parts. Saying that though I know I need stiffer suspension on my turbo but just cant find any aftermarket stuff ...

LOL, sod the rings m8, what about the nails :P. If you havent finished the job yet and havent put the new bolt in can I suggest that you beg/buy/borrow a tap to retap the crank, just to make sure that the thread in the crank isnt the reason the original bolt sheared off. Oh and if you dont have a ha...

Been running a cone filter with the most aweful connection to the inlet proper that youv ever seen (beleive me its just appaling and must be sapping power) but that wasnt the cause of the trouble, it was just leaking boost/vacuum pipes. Also (having recently had various coolant leaks, blown radiator...

I forget you lot have different engines to us lot in the UK but looking at that picture I assumed she meant the timing pulley anyway having not looked at the belt setup on my car before. Still, just dont do it! As I did state, the bolt will undo itself eventually and knowing sods law it will do it a...

Damn, couldnt edit that again :? . There is another option if you know of any small engineering workshops in your area. This would involve boring out the pulley and fitting a hydraulically locked bush into the pulley. These are like top hat shaped bushes that are locked in place when a set of screws...

Erm, piece of advise from an engineer, use a key (get some oversized keysteel and file it to the same shape as the knackered keyway and to fit the new pulley SNUGLY or itll just fret and knacker up again) to locate the pulley as if the pulley slips round (and it WILL do eventually using bearing fit ...

Bit of a long shot on the boost hesitation front but I had similar problems and managed to cure it by replacing ALL of the boost and vacuum signal pipes and making sure that none of them could leak (bit of silicone gasket on all nipples did the trick). Seing as youv obviously cut, t'd into or genera...

Lol greg, I meant watercooled engines, never been near the aircooled ones what you say makes sense but never saw any different piston options for those so forgot you can do that :? . Could be interesting to try a 2.2 short block with my 2L UK spec heads if I ever blow it up, it could do with a bit m...

The only problem with lightened flywheels (assuming theyre done properly!) are that the engine will lose revs quicker when you let the throttle off. Other than that theyre one of the cheeper ways of reducing your off the line acceleration (wont do much for higher gear accel though). Since the gearbo...
