You really shouldnt notice JUST replacing the steering rack bushes, if you replace ALL of the bushes thouhg it will feel like a different car, did it to a golf of mine recently and the difference was amazing. Id got so used to steering twice to do every corner that i nearly steered the wee bugger of...

Same symptoms as me, scares me whitless when you can hear everything banging away. Did you manage to cure the original problem with the vacuum hoses as most of mine are what I would call loose. Oh and the control solenoid is the one thats bolted to the front of the (i would guess over there) passeng...

Didnt actually replace the knock sensor, I cleaned it and it cleared the error code up (bad earth was my diagnosis). The problem is really really irritating as it does tend to happen when I floor it more than at other times (it seems fine and smooth on part throttle but needless to say not oomphfull...

I can solve this one for you coz its the same as I was getting a wekk or so back, take the knock sensor off and clean up the face that mates to the engine block as its probably crudded up and cant make an earth with the engine until the engines warmed up (sounds implausable but it really did cure mi...

Getting a bit peeved, anyone any ideas?
Right, I reset my ECU about a week or so ago after sorting all the error codes out on it and its progressively dropping power when the turbos spinning (as in its been getting worse as the weeks gone on). This as you can imagine is really p***ing me off as it seems as though every time I reset the EC...

Looks like someone thought they could do a porting job before realising they didnt have the right cutters or a long enough extension. Either that or it realy was just a bad casting from the factory, doesnt look like the split portion is very smooth so it could be that. Shouldnt worry about it, you w...

Getting a custom exhaust is alright if you happen to be made out of money or have a tree of the stuff in your back garden and judging by the fact that we own legacies instead of impreza's one could assume we have neither lol. Another problem with custom builds are that they are just guestimated syst...

The only peeps Ive seen that do ANY performance exhausts only do them for the turbo and theres only 2 ive found after a LOT of trawling, Mongoose sell a full system at £500ish [reasonable looking but the last one I had on a golf had mild steel hanging brackets (on a stainless exhaust!) which are now...

Hang on a moment, Ive heard off these before and what I heard sounded like the units complete rubbish not to mention the reviewers saying that it was the same, aint it just like a fake LSD that doesnt actaully WORK as an LSD? Correct me if Im wrong here but if its the one Im thinking off, dont bothe...

You WILL lose a lot off power if you use 87RON fuel due to the ECU retarding your timing so far its not worth speaking about lol, stick the best in and it shall reap the rewards. Just as an aside, over here our standard fuel is 95 RON and the supers 98 RON (what mine runs on), pretty sure that the j...

Cant you ask your fellow competitors what they use diff wise. Will a 4wd legacy rear or front diff fit? Have a look here as well if you want to get a quality diff, dunno if they do one fr the legacy but they do cover a LOT of cars and keep any designs for one offs www.quaife.co.uk I assure you they ...

As I say we get regally shafted over here, bet your cars only cost IRO $15k wheras mine cost £20kish brand new.

Its probably the same part as the dealership told me theres a possible update (probably the one your saying) and thats still £80. Porting the heads is ALWAYS a good idea be the car N/A or turbo but its an expensive job when done properly (think of the price of doing it AND all the bolts, gaskets and so on you have to replace) but if you want to do it then dont skim the head for higher compression as youll probably hole a pisto...

With the 2nd point, I was thinking that the turbo will still pass this amount off boost but will have the wastegate open by a certain percentage (like your saying it will find an equilibrium). With the 4th point im thinking more that when I get round to trying it Ill do it on stock boost levels but ...

Oops, forgot 1 last thing. From what I understand about turbos, as you go through the rev range the boost will actually drop off towards the top end, would the releif valve stop this happening and keep the boost at the 10 theoretical PSI right to top revs instead of dropping off (assuming of course ...

Jolly good, youve answered all my questions. Sorry about the diaphram confusion but I was thinking of the sytem as a whole whereby the actuator diaphram efectively sees a boost pressure and at this pressure (as set by the spring) it opens the wastegate, I just wast sure if it just went bang wide ope...

The pressure in the fuel tanks down to it being an FI car meaning that the tank ends up getting pressurised to keep a good flow going. Most FI fuel systems run at a constant pressure so in theory you should feel a drop in power right across the rev/throttle opening range if theres a leak. ie dont wo...

Right, on this subject, been doin a bit of research and it would seam that the legacy has an extremely weak diaphram in the wastegate (ie not enough to keep it closed at max standard boost) and that the actual boost that this sees is sent from a pipe with a solenoid in controling the pulses continua...
