DIY boost controller

Hey peeps Just read this on the Autospeed website http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_0670/article.html?popularArticle and im wondering if this could be aplicable to our cars. For my tuppeneth worth I recon that just having the pressure releif valve on its own is a good idea to speed the turbo spooling u...

Saying all that, just nipped to the shop in it and its thrown the 22 code up again, bugger! Im pretty sure its only doing it when the engines cold though si will it affect performance when its warm and the CELs gone off?

The way I reset it was with the engine up to proper temperature and the ignition switched to on, foot right to the floor (even found extra power while doing that by discovering my mats werent letting the throttle go fully on) kept it there for about 10 secs (just to be sure :P ), let it go a bit for...

OOps, forgot they did pifling N/A versions :P dont see many off them over here, or the turbos for that matter lol. In which case then, does it do it only when hot? if so its possibly an emisions pipe thats leaking/split and buggering up your idle (had the same thing on me golf although I suppose tha...

On the crush washer point, your right in saying that you shouldnt really do it, but it really wont affect either the engine compression or the plug itself. I would tend to think that they are only used so that its easier to get the plug out instead off it sticking in thru corrosion (dissimilar metal...

Damn, shame it wasnt just the filter, but it does sound like it was giving you grief if its a wee bit better. Not knowing all that much about turbo engines (and far too much about n/a engines lol) I wouldnt have a clue what else it could be but I do know that by resetting my ECU today its running fa...

FIrst, thanks for the fuse tip :P glad I never tried all off that lol. Managed to reset the ecu this afternoon by holding the throttle at full for longer. Checked for any codes after a good blast and wahoo, none showing and its actually boosting properly (minus the odd hiccup which Ill put down to t...

Dunno about the rest (suffering some similar probs meself) but I had a similar problem recently with my golf fuel pump, it started to get reheally noisy and the car ran like a dog and also staryted dying all the time. Would you beleive it was all just down to the fuel filter and I only found this ou...

Not entirely keen on disconnecting the battery as Im pretty sure the radios got a keycode in it which I dont have and last time I tried to get 1 for a ford it cost me! Just found some other instructions tho that tell me to just floor the throttle (engine off) and let go after a few secs instead of h...

Error codes

Hey peeps, Ive been looking into getting rid off a check engine light since buying the car a week or so ago (note its a uk spec one) and to find the reason for it hesitating all over the place regardless off throttle so i tried checking the error codes in the ecu which came up with a 22 (knock senso...

Woulda said it was to do with the weight except for my old golf having higher rear pressures than the front and the fronts definately way heavier. My only other thought is that it produces the handling balance that the company wants while giving decent wear rates.

Erm, jolly good, I wasnt worried about anything other than the manufacturers specs lol. Im not worried about overpressuring em as i just wouldnt, but thanx, Ill double check the doors out and go from the 34-32.

LOL, I know theyre subjective (and I normally leave the front pressures and up the rears a fair bit) but im after the manufacturers pressures as a starting point, tends to give good grip and fuel economy.

Tyre pressures

Hey peeps, new to the forum and just got a legacy turbo in the UK. Some good stuff on here and youve already answered a few of my questions without knowing it :o . However Ive not got any idea what tyre pressures I should be running (good to check just in case). Ive got Impreza 16" wheels on wi...
