Re: 93 Legacy Wagon with 04 Forester Suspension Issues

I'd have to say that when I did my forester suspension sway the biggest changes in feeling came when I finally added the forester control arm bushings and the front subframe spacers. It drove like a loose truck before that with an odd steering feeling. Afterwards it drives a bit like a tank. I just ...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

I've finally started working on my car again. Over the last 3 days my brother and I have changed out the driver's side rear wheel bearing and replaced the outer lateral link bushings with group n's. The wheel bearing was pretty straight forward. I didn't even have the cut the long lateral link bolt....

Re: Wagon liftgate handle interchangeability?

I did swap some tailgate handles around on my wagons. I specifically took the handle from my 99 legacy outback and used it on my 94 Legacy. I believe it was a direct swap. I also had the handle from my 2000 Legacy parts car which I used in the 99 Outback. I did however have to switch from the rod as...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

I think I'm set for wheels and tires. I just picked up another forester wheel/tire set LOL. This weekend I grabbed another set of forester struts/springs from an 02 for free. We also just grabbed a 2005 Impreza Outback Sport Wagon w/65k miles for $950 the only thing it needs is an engine, clutch, an...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

I picked up these yesterday. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o232/deadhp1/94_legacy/IMG_20120512_155801.jpg I got home, put them in and I don't fit nicely in them. They are meant for someone with a bit less mass then me. lol So I put them up for sale. On my way back home my rear wheel bearing sta...

FS:(LI,NY) Corbeau CR1 seats with brackets/rails. SOLD

I just picked up these seats and they don't really fit me all that well. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o232/deadhp1/94_legacy/IMG_20120512_155801.jpg I didn't realize in the pi that the fabric was untucked from carrying the right seat. It does tuck in and looks just like the left seat. drivers ...

Re: Anyone have a disassembled rear diff laying around

The best I can do at the moment is a 04 Forester XT 4.44 vlsd rear diff.
I can grab pics if you want.
Let me know if you want me to measure anything.

I'll be taking my 3.9 open diff out to swap in the vlsd at some point, but it might be a while.
I can take pictures/measurements then if you want.

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

Well we don't have a press....yet. It's on our list of things to buy when we have some cash. You've confirmed my doubts about the current trailing arm bushings. Is that a BigSky WRX bushing tool? It looks very nice. We do have a Hub Tamer kit which we have used on bushings and front/rear wheel beari...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

So stock lateral link bushings from the dealer cost more than the Group N bushings from Rallispec. I'm trying to decide if I should go with Group N lateral link bushings for $120 plus shipping or if I should buy these adjustable lateral links + adjustable trailing arms for $210. http://i121.photobuc...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

My car is back on the road with a working speedometer. I'm very happy it was just that cheap part. My progress on taking the forester rear sub-frame out has been quite slow. I've been struggling with the long lateral link bolts. Today my kroil arrived and we were able to get the driver's side bolt o...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

I'd have to say that my new seats really were a nice addition. I think I'd only get rid of them for some jdm v4 sti seats. Anyhow I took apart my speedometer cable and found what broke. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o232/deadhp1/94_legacy/IMG_20120423_120544.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

Well driving home today I was thinking to myself "Oh how nice is it that my check engine light is off." About 30 seconds later the check engine light decided to pop on and speedometer quit. LOL sometimes I think my car hates me. So I checked the codes and it's a code 33. Looks like when it...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

Today I got my front 02 wrx seats and installed them. I swapped the 94 legacy seatbelt clip and had to grind a small nub off to make them fit properly. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o232/deadhp1/94_legacy/IMG_20120418_145312.jpg http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o232/deadhp1/94_legacy/IMG_2012...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

Well I normally paint the intake manifolds and valve covers with the same paint. I just got lazy while putting this together and those metal fuel injector clips looked like they would snap if I stripped it totally down. When the intake is stripped down I usually paint the fuel lines black. Maybe onc...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

My cheap $70 ebay radiator got here on Thursday, but I didn't have a chance to put it in until today. So in while I waited this week I took apart my fans. I sanded the rusted housings and painted them with some leftover engine enamel. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o232/deadhp1/94_legacy/IMG_201...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

The Forester steering linkage is too long to fit. We tried but it's about an inch too long to fit. Got the legacy back on the ground today. We also got the radiator out, and while taking the fans off we broke 1 bolt off the top support and three off the lower. The radiator had a crack in the front o...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

I believe it's a high density rubber. It feels a bit like plastic. I'm guessing it's the same material as the wrx has in it's steering linkage.

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

I'm going to pop the original steering linkage out of the 94 Legacy today and compare it with the 99 Forester. So far it looks like the 94 is long enough, but I won't know for sure until I get them side by side. The radiator hose angles look great. I was a bit worried when installing the spacers bec...

Just a quick update. I still haven't gotten a chance to swap my spacers, control arms, or o2 sensor. I did get a chance to rip apart the 04XT Forester rear diff and pulled out the VLSD. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o232/deadhp1/94_legacy/IMG_20120404_171242.jpg I've got it stored away until I ...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

I picked up my tires yesterday. They are 215/65/16 from a 2009 forester. They all have around 6/32 tread left and one has a patch. Not bad for $75. I spent today getting ready to pull the phase 2 4eat out of the 99 Forester in order to swap it into the 99 Outback we have. While doing that I dropped ...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

Yep! I held them up against each other when I swapped the brackets. This was from a 99 Forester. I actually broke one of the trailing arm bracket welded nuts inside the legacy frame rail and had to drill into the floor to put a new one in. A interesting factoid is that the outback brackets repositio...

Re: deadhp1's 94 lifted n/a wagon ej253 swap

Good looking out ciper. My passenger front axle was clickinga little today, so it has been on my mind. I have actually swapped the trailing arm mounts. The trailing arms themselves are actually the same length. I've been thinking of having 1" spacers made for the mounts. I still have the forest...
