Re: Pulled engine for clutch swap, now redlines when startin
All done. Thank baby Jesus. Hopefully I'll never have to take the tranny out again! I had to weld the cross member in place because of the broken bolt but the car is running great. To any of those wondering, I'd highly recommend using the OEM Exedy flywheel and clutch kit. Smooth as butter. Lesson l...

Re: Pulled engine for clutch swap, now redlines when startin
So I've fixed most of the mistakes I made. Used distilled water, figured out that the throttle cable was binding up because if fell out of its carrier, and remounted the upper wishbone style mount. So I'm almost in the clear. I just have the broken internal frame nut on the cross member to deal with...

Re: Pulled engine for clutch swap, now redlines when startin
Thanks guys. I'll check the throttle cable and the IAC first and go from there. The cross member bolt definitely broke the internal nut, the whole thing spins free and i cant get the bolt to even come out. Slotting washers it is. Thanks for the idea MConte05.

Pulled engine for clutch swap, now redlines when starting!!
Okay, I've got my tail between my legs so to speak. I finally got around to pulling my motor/tranny for a much needed clutch change yesterday... first major job I've done on the car which is a 92 n/a ej22 AWD 5MT. I couldn't have asked for a better day to do it (sunny and warm in Seattle) though wit...

Re: Just Bought 92 legacy L AWD Sedan
Thanks guys, you've really helped. The car's been a bit put off due to vacation expenditures, but I should have the GR-2s on order within the month. Of course, over the few months I've owned it, I've noticed little age related quirks (Mostly trim). I'll probably be posting regularly... BTW- It's awe...

Re: Just Bought 92 legacy L AWD Sedan
Thanks! Glad to be on board and I've talked to a few other Subaru nuts and they agree. Take it slow and dial my preferences in. Do you (or anyone) happen to have any thoughts on top mount strut bars? Are they effective curbing body roll on these cars or should I look to sway bars first? I've used th...

Just Bought 92 legacy L AWD Sedan
So, I'm relatively new to Subarus. I just picked up a totally stock 92 legacy sedan AWD, with 150K on the odo (GREAT DEAL). It's clean as hell and runs like a champ with an EJ22 that's in awesome shape. It's going to be used as my daily driver/ getting to the mountain car and the engine is 100% suit...
