Re: 2 wire VSS to 3 wire VSS conversion questions/help

Thanks for the response Josh. I've been able to put some miles on the car and have had no codes or transmission related issues.

Re: 2 wire VSS to 3 wire VSS conversion questions/help

Update: I replaced the VSS with a new unit and now the speedometer and diagnostics are reading. I'm only able to move the car in my driveway and haven't gone more than a few feet and 5mph. I'll have to wait for better weather. I'm still uncertain on TCU interpretation, I'm guessing because I only ti...

https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/zz197/chrisdenali/Screen_Shot_2015-10-01_at_2.10.20_PM.jpg I believe this diagram to show the configuration for the 99-01 wiring. I've wired the signal from 3 wire VSS directly to the ECU and gauge cluster. I'm not getting a reading on the speedometer and the ...

2 wire VSS to 3 wire VSS conversion questions/help

I'm looking for some guidance in swapping my VSS from a 2 wire sensor to a 3 wire sensor. The car is a 1998 impreza L originally equipped with a 2 wire VSS. The speedometer isn't working and I've narrowed it down to an issue likely with the motor that moves the needle in the cluster. I couldn't find...

Re: Dankberries 1993 Impreza ej23t/25d build

Some years later update. I've done probably close to 40 events in SCCA with the impreza and the engine is still holding from the last rebuild. I really enjoy driving this car, it's truly miles of smiles. I've fixed a few things along the way, I've been through a couple transmissions, I continue to p...

I would lean towards no. The pearl paints in my experience are not the same as ceramic.

Re: engine builder in Denver

Possibly mofab in Parker. I think the deterring part for most shops would be finding the correct specs for a jdm motor. The need of a F.S.M would be necessary. It might also depend on the extent of assembly. If it's just the short block, that's a relatively similar procedure across the board for ej'...

Re: Dankberries STi s209

So how does the car drive? Were you able to open it up and really feel how it drives? My first outting was a day of learning the car and playing with different settings. My second outting I was pretty comfortable with the car and found the settings netting the best lap times. I shaved 4 seconds off...

Re: Dankberries STi s209

Congrats on nabbing one. Not asking for $$, but did the dealer add a healthy profit to the sticker? Kinda like when anything rare 1st comes out. Ford dealers are notorious from what I've read. Also, does that paint protection film actually work if applied on the lower portions? Most of the the deal...

Re: Dankberries STi s209

Its like owning the next generation 22B except even more rare at 209 units vs. 424 . The 22B sold for a little over $40k new in 1998. Today it's selling, in some instances, around $150k. Interesting fact, the s209 was originally slated to be called the 25B, and was badged as so on prototypes, but la...

Re: Dankberries STi s209

What are your plans with the car? Are you going to just drive it on certain occasions or will it be your primary means of transportation? Honestly having mixed emotions about it. I thought at first I'd use it as a main mean of transportation, mostly summer time. Though after the little driving I've...

Re: Dankberries STi s209

That is really cool! Can you compare/contrast it to your 2019 Limited? I haven't had enough seat time to give a detailed answer. I'm also trying to take it easy for a bit (low boost, low revs) on the new motor. I can say right out the bat it's VERY responsive. Wow can you feel every bit of the road...
