Re: HOWTO: remove instrument cluster

I just wanted to add that I tried to use this and several other posts as a guide and was very confused by it. So let me add my two cents here. First to lower the steering wheel, and take the trim piece out, the bolts are on the left and right side of the steering wheel bolted up behind the plastic c...

Re: HVAC clicking noise

Mine does this as well, but only when I turn it off. If you turn the heater off and push one of the other defrosts halfway(but make sure it doesn't turn on), the noise should go away… This!!!! That happens to mine as well. Kind of annoying, but since nothing has stopped working I just accept it as ...

Re: Power Steering Pump Disassembly & Rebuild

Hello, I am reporting back in on how my experience went with the power steering pump rebuild. First off that guide I referenced was almost exactly the same for our older model Legacys as it was for the newer cars he used for his rebuild, so that was good to know. Cleaning the pump did take an extrem...

Re: Power Steering Pump Disassembly & Rebuild

Then I stand corrected. I will be sure to call it a fitting from now on. :)

Additionally, I will stick to just ordering those items and replacing the bearing.
Though that replacement hose is $10... which to me seems about $5 too much, but oh wells.

Thanks a bunch for your help!

Re: Power Steering Pump Disassembly & Rebuild

Ok....let's back up for a second. Is the steering rack, power steering pump, and lines all from your 93 legacy? If so, there shouldn't be any banjo bolts. Am I missing something? The high pressure discharge at the pump should just be an o-ring, and same thing at the connection point with the steeri...

Re: Power Steering Pump Disassembly & Rebuild

That's a great link/write-up with pictures. Thanks for sharing and let us know how things go. Yeah, the author on that site was very thorough with the rebuild. Do you happen to know the part number for both washers on the banjo bolt for the high pressure line? I am afraid I am frustrating Jamie at ...

Re: Power Steering Pump Disassembly & Rebuild

Yeah I don't know about the size off the top of my head, but I too would assume the 15mm is the correct one. That 15 mm sizing should correspond to the pump's shaft size. I may have a spare pump around I could check. Let me know if you need me to do that and I can try and find it this week. Just an...

Re:

If you want to buy the bearing online and can't find it locally, you should be able to buy it here https://www.motionindustries.com You'll want an NSK 6202 VV C3 BRG The VV code says that it's sealed on both sides. So I just went to a local NSK dealer and there are two different NSK 6202 VV C3 bear...

Re: Adding a rear swaybar

Good notes/write up. Yeah those long bolts are a real pain!! Are you talking about the sway bar mounts that mount to the chassis? Is it one of those bolts that just spins? If so, there is a nut welded on inside of the chassis. If that was corroded or too much force was used, that weld likely broke ...

Re: Adding a rear swaybar

I just wanted to report back that I did find all the parts I needed at a junk yard off another newer legacy. All in all the parts cost me just $28! Sunday night I went to put them on and man, that was quite the job, much harder than I was hoping for. I was initially pleasantly surprised to find that...

One of those great moments where we get to share an an experience together. =) You tell her, this will just make our relationship stronger honey..... :) Yeah the lw flywheel takes a little bit to get used to. Re: N/A 2.2L Legacy L Clutch Replacement Options?

Here are some pics of the old burned out clutch. You can see that the clutch had zero fibers left on it, it was just the metal plates. I wish the mechanic would not have left them in the boxes without a plastic bag around them or something. It left quite a gross mess in my trunk that I still haven't...

Re: N/A 2.2L Legacy L Clutch Replacement Options?

Hello, Thought I would update this thread to let you guys know how everything went. First off, two Saturdays ago I was suppose to work with my friend on replacing the clutch, but that got canceled since, he could not find anyone to watch his kids. Low and behold that same day my clutch burned out an...

Alrighty. Cool.

So I got the Exedy clutch kit and the ACT lightweight flywheel.
It probably won't be installed for a few weeks.

I assume the kit comes with a new Pressure Plate?

Re: 2005 STi Front and Rear Struts on 93 Legacy?

The STi struts will probably be valved stiffer than the GR-2, and likely more than most of the AGX settings. Cool. Bases on other stuff I recently read it seems that the STi struts should be more durable as well as stiffer. I tell yah, the hunt to find a complete set of 04 struts is not easy. I gue...

little bolts- not very tight (18 lb-ft) big bolts- really f'ing tight (101 ln-ft) endlink bolts are 32 lb-ft. I can't say I use a torque wrench for much other than engine assembly and lug nuts. Most torque specs are pretty standard for that particular fastener size and you could go by something lik...

Re: 2005 STi Front and Rear Struts on 93 Legacy?

The bolt spacing on the hub is different from our cars on the 5x114 Subarus, so you can't get them to fit. With the rears it's the bolts on top of the strut that are spaced differently so you can just swap top hats or drill through the thin metal on the car to fit the 3rd bolt. I'd stick with 04, s...

2005 STi Front and Rear Struts on 93 Legacy?

So I am looking to buy 2005 STi Struts, but I read that they don't fit the front. Is there no way to make them fit the front? I know the rears are suppose to work if you do some drilling / slotting, but does that not work for the front either? Or should I stick to looking for 2004 STi struts? Thanks...

Re: GD/GG Impreza (WRX/STi) springs on BC/BF/BJ cars: UPDATE

Ok, so as my signature states I have a 93 N/A Legacy Sedan.

I want to use 04+ Sti springs on my car.
Based on what I read so far all I need are either 91-91 Legacy rear strut mounts or a 04+ Impreza rear strut mounts?

Did I miss anything?
I don't have to change the fronts correct?

Thanks!

Re: N/A 2.2L Legacy L Clutch Replacement Options?

Yeah the 2.5 flywheel and clutch should work fine on the 2.2. I recommend just getting a 2.5 flywheel & clutch/pp. That way you know everything will work, vs trying to mix and match 2.2 & 2.5 stuff. Forgive me (cause this sounds kind of weird to ask) what is "pp"? Port and Polish?...

Re: N/A 2.2L Legacy L Clutch Replacement Options?

Just a quick note. The older turbo transmissions use a "pull" clutch setup, not a "push" clutch setup. The push style clutch setup can be both cable or hydraulic. Around 06, the WRX came with a push style clutch setup. Yeah that's why I was thinking to go with a 98-01 2.5 RS Clu...
