hefty - find out if it is an auto or not? It probably is. Manual is more powerful and more economical.

You will have a harder time insuring the GT as it is an imported car from Japan and has 250bhp+.
That said - I pick mine up this week, and the driving experiance is worth every penny!

Thanks Legacy777.

If nothing else goes wrong I will get the car this Friday now.
I am still really nervous about the potential maintenance costs, etc.

Wow again Matt. For someone who professes to know little about Legacies - you know truck loads. Thanks for that - I wanted to be sure that the car has not been modified - hence the gear box questions, and I suspected the applied model would have that in there somewhere. Do you know of any books I ca...

No worries subylover - I'm happy for the input.
I am getting the car Friday, so I will check out the leak more thoroughly, but I am not going to let it deter me. Especially as the turbos are covered in the 6 month warrante
Cheers

No worries georryan - I thought that might be the case as I used to have a slow connection once - and it was a pain.

Still - It was nice to have it there for a little while :)

Matt - Cheers for all your help previously. The car is lovely, and what a sound to it!! I have some pictures of the car, but no idea how to post them & I don't have any web space. Subyluver - It's not from the transmission, but from diectly above, and the residue is on the gator. Didn't look ser...

Just driven the Legacy Wagon Twin Turbo!

Wow - is all I can say. I managed to get £500 part ex for my MY94 Mondeo Si so only the £3495 balance to find. The car seems excellent and goes like stink. We did find the tinsy winsiest of oil leaks while the car was up on the ramp. Difficult to describe where, but here goes. With the car up on the...

Matt - Thanks mate. That little badge is exactly the one on the car i am going to get. I have to say that the seats were excellent - they were longer under the back of the leg to the knee (which suits me as I am over 6ft), but the MOMO steering wheel had the center piece 'taped' on. Thanks for your ...

I looked at the car yesterday - very nice. It is not in the best shape externally (has some scrapes & paint chipping on bumpers, etc) but it is exactly what I am after. Anyway, I have loads more numbers off the engine plate - as follows:- E-BG5 Chassis no - BG5-130685 Applied Model - BG5-A59D Op...

Ok, just to clear up as it has not been mentioned and I need to confirm insurance.

The Engine number of EJ20HDWAJE definately refers to a 2 liter? Would it be EJ22H if it was a 2.2 liter as the documents suggest?

I'm getting excited about the car now!

Thanks again

Wow - Thanks Matt What more info could I get. I understood from the guy I was speaking to that that was the whole chassis number - seemed short to me. Is there a place on the car that the full number is listed - under the hood, or by the drivers seat? How would I get some more info on the GT-V spec ...

Nice one. Thanks for the replies. I thought it was a standard GTB Twin Turbo. As stated, it is not a twin scroll, but a sequential tubo system. I believe it to be 260bhp for auto box, and 280 bhp for manual box - this is a manual box. Is there something I could do about the 'valley of death'? Or is ...

OK - I've found out the numbers of the vehicle.

Chassis - BG5-130685
Engine - EJ20HDWAJE

Can anyone tell me what this vehicle is?

The vehicle documents state GTV LT 2200 Twin Turbo - but I don't think that is correct.

Many thanks

Yeah - I think it might be the 2.0 GTB and someone got all confused at registration/import.

I'll get the VIN and Engine no - I know the VIN should be on a plate under the bonnet, but where else will it be located? And where will I find the engine number?

Thanks

Thanks for the replies.
How do I find out for sure?
Do I have to check the engine number and chassis number (I have asked for these).
When I get them - where do I cross reference to find out exactly what the car is?

GTV is what is written on the cars document, but I am off to see the car this saturday. I thought it could be a typo - maybe the details were read out over the phone - V sounds like B (ish!) Did Subaru do a 2.2 GTB Twin Turbo then? I doubt they could have messed up twice in the same sentance!?! Cheers

Help required on Legacy 2.2 GTV Twin Turbo

Hi guys Excellent forum. I have been looking for good information for a while now, and looks like I have found it. Anyway, I am in the UK and found the above car at a good price. It has been imported fron Japan, and is a '96 model. My problem is, that everybody knows the 2.0 GTB Twin Turbo, but I ha...
