Re: ABS Fault Code 16
My system has the LED on the ABS control module. The control module is under the passenger seat on my vehicle. My vehicle does not have the jumper connector in the drivers side kick panel (at least not that I could determine).I am led to believe that my ABS system does not store codes long term, bas...

Re: ABS Fault Code 16
Well, I finally had a break in the BMW action to use our shop torch to extract the broken 6mm. bolt studs that held the original Yaw rate sensor / G-sensor to the frame rail. The studs were a piece of cake to get out. The hardest part was coordinating a time slot with my shop foreman to bring my car...

Re: Left front brake caliper is hanging up / dragging the pa
Is this used spindle you speak of on a car presently? If so, do both of the front wheels have the same amount of resistance when you rotate the wheels by hand, when the vehicle us up in the air ? My left front wheel has just enough drag to tell me something is not quite right. This resistance, or dr...

Re: Left front brake caliper is hanging up / dragging the pa
This is very possible. When I have the car up in the air, the wheel bearing does not present any looseness or play. I did replace my right front wheel bearing for a very minor humming. I am not getting any noise from my left front wheel bearing. But I am running out of components to question and ref...

Re: SR-71 Blackbird
I recently did an internship at Pratt and Whitney. I learned that those engines were known for leaks. I also learned that the shell of that jet would become more streamlined during flight from the pressure. It would flatten out slightly.

On the aluminum control arms... Is there a difference between the '93 to '01 Impreza front lower control arm and the '02 to '07 Impreza front lower control arm ?

I see what you mean. I never knew the integrity of the newer style lower control arm sway bar link attachment point was very similar. The pictures provide a clear understanding.

Re: Left front brake caliper is hanging up / dragging the pa
I wouldn't be driving the car. Just rolling the wheel by hand, up in the air, on my lift. The only time I notice this dragging is when I roll the wheel while the vehicle is up in the air. But I do experience an issue with warping front rotors all the time. So I think this might have something to do ...

Re: Swift Springs - Anyone using them on their BF, BJ
Good to know. Speaking of online stores (and not to get too far off the subject). Is there any online stores that offer parts for these older Legacies ? I heard people liking Whiteline springs. I went to Whiteline's website and I don't see any springs for our cars. I suspect they've been discontinued.

Re: Swift Springs - Anyone using them on their BF, BJ
I'm doing BC coilovers on my 1995 BMW 325ic. But I'm doing the $1000 kit. I don't think the Swift springs are an option on the entry level BC coilover kit. Maybe I'll take it up a notch. I was thinking of putting those Swift springs on ebaY to use. But I'm just very uncertian of the final product of...

Here is a pair of links to the Swift springs. They are selling, so people are using them. Just curious to hear from someone who has tried them on a BF / BJ. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Swift-Springs-SPEC-R-Subaru-STi-2004-2007-4F902R-/280742677016?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item415d9...

Re: Left front brake caliper is hanging up / dragging the pa
I'm not really sure. But I do have stock brake calipers and rotors and stock OEM wheels (those 14" mesh wheels). It has to be the knuckle or wheel bearing. Because I replaced everything else that could cause a front caliper to hang up. Unless its from the front differential. I could pop my axle...

Re: Swift Springs - Anyone using them on their BF, BJ
Swift springs are an upgrade on BC coilovers and a few other brands; I think Megan coilovers might use Swift as a spring upgrade. Not sure what the basic spring manufacture is for BC coilovers. On ebaY you will find Swift springs. $299.00 to $350.00 for springs. The springs on ebaY are for standard ...

Re: How-To- Newer Subaru Front Endlinks on a 1st Gen
Will it stand the test of time ? I'm referring to the lower control arm, since you needed to modify it. Or is the ear / tab on the lower control arm that you bolted the link to going to flex and eventually snap ? I don't view you as being cheap. I view you as innovative and clever. It's not your pro...

Where is the mercury switch on the First Gen Legacy ? Are you saying that the Yaw Rate Sensor essentially is another name for a Mercury Switch ? No worries with my old sensor. I won't be licking it. I won't go crazy with my sensor. Work drives me crazy enough. So when I'm out of work I try to settle...

Re: Need a little trouble shooting help.
Get an OEM knock sensor. You won't be disappointed. And the price difference between the aftermarket sensor and OEM sensor is, typically, not significant. There is a reason that Subaru has implemented a design change to a ton of their knock sensors. Feel confident that you received a knock sensor of...

Swift Springs - Anyone using them on their BF, BJ
Hi everyone, I got talking with a guy by the name of Gary @ Mann Engineering quite a while back (I ordered some bushings from him). While chatting with Gary, he spoke very highly of Swift springs. He noted that they have less coil windings, which equals less material in the composite of each spring....

Re: ABS Fault Code 16
LOL. That is small compared to the headaches I deal with at BMW. Have you ever heard of removing an engine "just" to "try" to diagnose a cylinder #7 misfire ? Have to remove the engine just to remove the cylinder head. How about replacing a body harness to repair a LIN Bus fault ...

Re: Left front brake caliper is hanging up / dragging the pa
Yes, I replaced the complete caliper with the brackets and guide pins. The guide pins were pre-greased. It's definitely not the caliper. I also have experienced sticking pins, very common on Honda and Toyota. My girlfriend just had (1) sticking pin on her '04 Matrix which led to a spongy and sinking...
