Re: No heat at idle - heats up with revs
When I do this CLR treatment, I'm going to disconnect the hoses at the engine. Raise the hoses above the heater core and pour the CLR down the hose leading to the heater core and keep filling until the CLR is coming out the other end. So that the heater core is full of CLR. I'll let the CLR do its j...

Re: GD/GG Impreza (WRX/STi) springs on BC/BF/BJ cars: UPDATE
I'm looking for some advice / recommendations for struts and springs for my 94 GT wagon. I didn't come across too much info for wagons. I was thinking of going with '03 WRX Tokico D-Spec struts. I was looking at the Tanabe springs. My biggest fear: saggy butt. I would just do coilovers, but I don't ...

Re: No heat at idle - heats up with revs
Found an "OES" heater core at Rakuten.com Not sure if they are still available at the dealer, or not. Posting this just for future reference, in case they go NLA at the dealer or what have you. http://www.rakuten.com/prod/1990-1994-subaru-legacy-hvac-heater-core-oes-genuine-w0133-1654212/2...

Re: No heat at idle - heats up with revs
One thing I have noticed about bleeding the cooling system on my car, is that I find it much easier to pour the coolant into the bleeder screw than it is to pour into the filler cap. I will pour coolant into the filler cap until it briefly tops off and then the level drops. But once the coolant reac...

Re: No heat at idle - heats up with revs
I'm having this issue too, kind of sort of. I was asked to replace the thermostat with an OEM thermostat and bleed the cooling system with the nose up in the air. I did just that, and I took it one step further, I bleed the cooling system using a smart funnel to be absolutely certain that the system...

Re: Brakes not working in cold
I too live in Canada and its can get pretty cold here. Last Tuesday it got down to -7°F. That will freeze up the brake booster and make the pedal feel like you have no brakes. I just pump it a few times before I move the car to free it up. I also start the car on the coldest days and let it warm up...

Re: Brakes not working in cold
Two weeks ago I made a 6 hour round trip. It was a one shot, there and back trip to a boneyard 180 miles away to pick up car parts. I'm going to try the WD-40. I just find it strange that it has never done it in the 5 winters previous.

Re: Brakes not working in cold
Does the moisture / condensation get inside the hose due to a bad brake booster ? I can only imagine if there were water or moisture in the line the engine vacuum should draw this moisture / condensation in toward the engine. This has never happened to me in years past. I just experienced this for t...

Re: Which front seats are you using ?
Great information guys. Thank you, Josh, for the added information in regard to the wagons with the bump in the roof. That just happens to be what I have. Do the '05 rear seats work on wagons ? I gathered that they do work on sedans from Kimo's post. Devilzdriver, I'm not sure what body you have. Th...

Thank you so much, Mike ! The foam in the seats of these old legacy's…. …..it's like the foam got hard and stale. It just shreds and tears.

Which front seats are you using ?
Just trying to get an idea of what seats have been tried and tested and known to be a good fit in out first gen. Leggy's. I've read quite a bit about doesn't work. Anyone out there have any suggestions that they are happy with ?

Re: Suggestions for 17" wheels that retain beater status
Those Rota Grids look sick and the DR31's too ! The first link of the Enkei's are cool, if they didn't have hub caps that cover the lugs, but they seem to be too modern. I'm cool with spending the cash. I'm just trying to retain "beater status." As for rubber, my rubber certainly won't be ...

Suggestions for 17" wheels that retain beater status
I'm looking to move to 17" wheels, aftermarket wheels, era correct, that don't put me in the category of $3,000.00 wheels on a $500.00 car. I've been told Slipstreams. I can't find them for sale new or used. Even Slipstreams might be a little too nice for beater status. Steelies with hubcaps mi...

Re: HVAC: No air from any vents
Ok, the evaporator thermostatic switch is on order. FYI, I was told there are only (8) left. I'm not sure if that means there is only (8) left in the country, or only (8) left in a given warehouse, or (8) left in the world and when they are gone, THEY'RE GONE. And I paid $119.08 plus tax for the the...

Re: HVAC: No air from any vents
My car has 310,000 miles on it. I have not done the heater core yet. I bought the car in 2006 with 189,000 miles on it. I'm on my second timing belt / w-pump. Ok, so I can replace the evaporator temp sensor without removing the dash. Just yank the evap box directly behind the glove box. I called my ...

Re: HVAC: No air from any vents
Thanks for clearing this up for me, Alphius. While I'm in this deep, is there any other common components to "refresh" while I have this all apart ? Or is this the only component that commonly (or uncommonly) fails that requires dash removal ?

Re: HVAC: No air from any vents
Thank you for the help guys. Is this sensor attached to the evaporator ? I may be getting a little off the subject here. Would this sensor being fault also cause the A/C compressor to cycle on and off like crazy ? I can hear a relay clicking on and off like 20 times a minute. It sounds like this rel...

Re: HVAC: No air from any vents
Thanks Josh. I'll let you know what I do find. The following morning, when I left my house for work, I was getting air flow again. I do know that my A/C evaporator does like to ice over. And we're back to the cold season here in CT. So, it might have been my evaporator that iced over. I did have the...

HVAC: No air from any vents
Blower motor is blowing. Not getting any air from any of the vents. I would imagine something is blocking airflow just past the blower motor. But I just wanted to put this out there to see if anyone has encountered this and maybe correct my train of thought. Thank you for your time.

Re: Car wandering?
Judging by the part numbers I was sold and comparing to the part numbers I'm seeing on Advance Auto Parts, I believe I was sold front and rear struts for a '91 - '92 Legacy. I originally bought my GR-2's from NAPA, and the part numbers were either incorrect in their catalog, or the counterman went f...
