Re: Center diff. shimmng

I got the center diff, drive and driven gears for.. ...FREE... ...front a '10 Impreza with less than 100k on it.

Re: Center diff. shimmng

Alphius,

Thank you. Yes, that makes perfect sense to me. I just did't know the front and rear diff ratios were not the same on the WRX. Again, thank you.

Center diff. shimmng

Team, My center diff started seriously whining on deceleration on my '04 Outback. (I assume the set up and shim measurement procedure will be the same or similar between an '04 Outback 5MT and a First Gen. with 5MT) I found the service bulletin that discusses updating the tailshaft extension case (c...

Re: Fuel pump

That makes sense, Josh. I just wanted to thank you for the reply. I didn't notice if the connector housing was discolored. At 22 years old, I would imagine discoloration to be normal, to a degree.

Fuel pump

Has anyone had an issue with going through fuel pumps ? I have replaced my fuel pump twice in less than a year. Granted they are aftermarket fuel pumps. The original pump died, I replaced with one from Advance Auto Parts. It died and I parts warrantied it. Replaced the replacement fuel pump and it d...

Re: Intermittently brake pedal goes to the floor while drivi

I ordered the vacuum pipe that has the non-return valve inside $22. I couldn't find the part number on the diagrams on parts.subaru.com, but the brake booster diagram at the dealer provided more details.

Re: Intermittently brake pedal goes to the floor while drivi

Hey Mike, Thanks for the advice. I did have the issues with the check valve freezing and I had to give the valve a blast of WD-40 and some other solution to rid the valve of moisture (maybe dry gas) ? Maybe it's time for a new valve ? ...if they are still available ? Having a hard time finding the p...

Intermittently brake pedal goes to the floor while driving

Hi everyone, Sporadically, maybe once or twice a month, the brake pedal will go to the floor when trying to come to a stop. Not losing any brake fluid externally. Seems like a master cylinder issue. But I personally have only experienced permanent malfunctions of the brake master cylinder; as oppose...

Re: Brake pedal fades 1" while stopped and brakes are applie

I had already replaced the master cylinder. And the characteristics between my '04 Outback and my '94 Legacy are the same. So, I am more confident that the pedal feel is normal.

Intermittent low idle, almost wants to stall

I sold my car and my friend is stating that the engine wants to stall. Almost stalls but the idle kicks back up. Before I sold the car, I replaced the battery, fuel pump, spark plugs and wires, TPS, knock sensor, coolant temp sensor and sending unit catalytic converter. In a nut shell, I feel like I...

Re: Buzzing clicking from behind cluster when starting

This noise only happens when the ignition switch is in position #3. This sound has something to do with the starter circuit. Can anyone provide a schematic of the starter circuit ?

Re: ABS Fault Code 16

Charles, I see what you are getting at. Even though I don't have ABS sensor codes, you have been in a situation where replacing ABS sensors 'does' resolve code 16. Not to say this will prove true for all cases. But when rust is involved, all bets are off. When the diagnostic flow charts were created...

Re: ABS Fault Code 16

It could. But I don't even have a wheel speed sensor fault at all. Fault code 16 has to do with the G-sensor and the G-sensor circuit. Anyway, I sold the car to kid in dire need. I will most likely buy the car back from him when he saves some money for something a little nicer (in terms of a family ...

I agree with the new formulation of the EBC Red's. I am running them right now on my '04 Outback and I love them.

Re: Buzzing clicking from behind cluster when starting

I don't get the noise when the door is open or closed and no seat belt chime; which isn't a bad thing. It sounds like a relay going nuts. When the relay is going nuts the starter won't engage at all. But, if I cycle they key, it ALWAYS engages the starter on the second or third key cycle and the eng...

Re: ABS Fault Code 16

I am giving up on this issue for the following reasons. A used ABS computer didn't resolve my issue. A used G-sensor didn't resolve my issue. A new G-sesnor can't be had because it is no longer available. A new ABS computer is $1000 and by now is probably no longer available. And I'm not willing to ...

Re: Left front brake caliper is hanging up / dragging the pa

No, I didn't . I do have issues with my ABS that are unresolved and my ABS might be causing a bit of drag. I have an ABS fault for the Yaw sensor. I have worked through the flow chart for this trouble code multiple times and come up with a bad ABS computer. I replaced the ABS computer and the fault ...

Buzzing clicking from behind cluster when starting

Sometimes when I go to start my car, I get a buzzing or clicking that sounds like a relay going crazy behind the instrument cluster. This only happens when the ignition is in the "start" position (position 3). Any ideas what might be causing this ?

Re: FS: 1994 Legacy GT, Navy blue, Connecticut, 318k WRX / L

Ehhh, relationships are a give and take. If I were in my 20's, I'd be thinking of a new girlfriend. But since I'm 37 and my girlfriend is 36, it's time to let this project go. Not to say I can't buy another in the future.

I have not taken pictures yet. Coming soon. Price is negotiable.

FS: 1994 Legacy GT, Navy blue, Connecticut, 318k WRX / LGT

So much to say about this car. The only reason I'm getting rid of it is because my girlfriend wants me to start thinking about a newer family car. I have the '05 LGT calipers on hand, Goodridge SS braided brake hoses, Kartboy SSK w/ the proper linkage needed to install the SSK. I have owned this car...

Re: Who's running 18" on their car ?

Yes, they are good looking. And personally, I don't think the 18's look too big or awkward. I do think the profile of the tire is quite thin. I would not be incline to run 18" wheels year round in a four season climate where roads become littered with potholes. But for those who live in areas w...
