Engine Rattling...
Okay so I don't really know where to list this, I need some help. So this doesn't happen when i'm NOT moving, like if i'm stopped completely it doesn't make the sound, but if i'm on the road, about 3k or higher and I push in the clutch to shift, it makes this 'rattle' noise, like per the RPMs. Only ...

Re: robertlxxii's 94' Legacy Wagon
Thank you! Yesterday I installed new valve cover gaskets and desnorkified the intake. Cam and Crank seals soon. Between the underdrive pulley and the desnork there is a nice little acceleration boost

Re: Grinding Clutch?
It's my daily, so I drive it a lot. I might end up selling it to buy another legacy with lower miles, something under 200k. Would rather not put the money into get that bearing replaced just for the tranny to end up taking a death nap later on.

Re: Grinding Clutch?
What causes backlash? If I can just get a good N/A OEM tranny and swap it in, you think that would be a better solution? I know a guy out here that has a big subaru yard, I can get a good tranny for a decent price. also WRX trannys around here go for decent prices with low miles but that's quite a b...

Re: Grinding Clutch?
Well I definitely have backlash then. So an input bearing would help resolve that?

Re: Grinding Clutch?
Mine has 240k and I don't think anythings been replaced except the clutch so it sounds about right, hopefully I can do it soon. So i'm guessing they replaced the input shaft bearing and rear main seals and stuff? Assuming they dropped the tranny and didn't pull the motor. $1200 sounds decent, I wish...

Grinding Clutch?
I have a question, can't seem to find any related info. I'm hearing a faint grinding noise when I disengage the clutch. Like when I go and start my car, tranny in neutral, I let the clutch out and there somewhat of a grinding noise, push the clutch in, and it's gone. The clutch is not slipping, car ...

Re: Spotted Thread
Spotted a 92' Winestone Turbo SS at Voodoo Dougnuts in PDX last night around 11:30.. Waited for the owner to come out and asked him if he was interested in selling it, scored his email address
No damage, super clean, looked stock, 160k

The exhaust is from a 2nd gen sedan, not wagon. Hmm I wonder how much length different there is.

robertlxxii's 94' Legacy Wagon
Hey all, Thought i'd post a few pictures of my Wagon up. Just got her recently Bought for $1200 out in Oregon City. Running pretty good right now, good mileage. Leaking a lot of oil from the valve seals, other than that pretty decent. I love this color of green with the interior combo. Here's the sp...

Re: 93 turbo wagon rebuild
Curious to what DOHC heads you swapped from? EJ20/25? I am looking into doing the same, I like this build a lot, so I figured I would ask.

Re: Crankshaft Pulley Wobble
Did you get the pulley seated all the way against the crank gear? If the crank gear is worn, it's possible that is causing the pulley to not sit perfectly straight and causing the wobble. Did you remove the crank gear and inspect it at all? The pulley was seated all the way back. I did not remove t...

Re: Crankshaft Pulley Wobble

Re: Clutch Spring
you know, i've been hearing some rattling and I bet you this is the culprit. I couldn't figure out where it's coming from, sounded like the top hat to the front left was maybe coming loose, but it wasn't. Where can I get another spring? the dealer? cause this looks like a special fitting spring.

Re: Crankshaft Pulley Wobble
I got the lightweight pulley in. The regular pulley wasn't really screwed up, but it was eating away at the plastic timing cover behind it... not sure what that means. it had been grinding against it to the point there it made a circular divet around the plastic case. Now the woodruff key looks a li...

Re: Crankshaft Pulley Wobble
Alright I bought a pulley. It's slightly smaller.. It was only 25 bucks though. I already drove way far out to meet the dude. My guess is its an Underdrive pulley. In that case, where do I find a belt that fits the pulley? Can I just use the belt tensioner to remove slack? This is only a temp fix un...

Clutch Spring
Can anyone tell me what this actually does? Because I noticed it was unhooked and hanging on one side, so I took it off. I think I still have it laying around. From what i've seen the purpose is to limit the extra play in the clutch fork for a tighter feel? Is it safe to keep it off? Here is an imag...

Re: Crankshaft Pulley Wobble
The pulley isn't loose, it's either warped of the key is screwed up. Or maybe the crank inside is warped? I just hope when I put the new one on, it's not wobbling. Otherwise i'm running the engine into the ground and then doing a turbo swap.

Re: Crankshaft Pulley Wobble
Ahhhhhh I see. Good information. I will be driving the Legacy to pick it up so i'll make sure the pulley is the same diameter as the OEM one.
