Re: 1st gen. Subaru legacy meet in Seattle November 2012
Anyone in the Seattle area yearing for a meet/drive coming in December? We can perhaps organize a short drive up to the mountains to play with some snow and then head back town to get a burger and milkshake. Any better ideas?

Re: What's your favorite subaru, past or present?
Another favorite is the current WRX STi, 4 door sedan with those fender flares. Don't like the hatchback, though lol. Also, noticed how the 98 WRX 22B STi used the EJ22 dohc engine, and NOT the EJ25 motor, headgasket problems, perhaps??

Re: Legacy won't start! Car is stranded in town!
Had some starting issues with mine, a 91 legacy awd wagon. Did the usuals, new battery, new starter, check the alternator. Turned out to be a bad ground cable running from the starter to the battery. Got a new cable. So far so good. Keep fingers crossed. Check your wiring. Old cars with bad electric...

I think most ppl nowadays are preoccupied with their own things, so it's been quite lukewarm whenever somebody suggest any type of meet or drives. Perhaps we should wait until next summer then? LOL

Re: 90 Legacy "STOP LAMP" issue
The car being that old (over 20) I won't be surprised if it turned out to be some wiring issues. Electrical wires can deteriorate over time, and this is where it gets to be hard part. Trying to figure out which one is the culprit. Good luck!

they don't usually calculate how much aftermarket things u done to the car. Just the market value for the make, model, and year. You could have a Picasso in it and it wouldn't mattered...........lol

Re: lowering springs for wagons
Those springs u looked at should fit fine. I believe J code meant that it's the BJ code that's for the first gen legacy wagons. Besides, those intrax springs also specifically made for 91 and up legacy wagons, so u should be good to go.turbo970 wrote:what does the j6 code mean?

I'm mildly surprised that with all these problems ur getting and having to deal with, ur still persisting with this car. Perhaps it's time to call it quits and sell it? Get another SS or something else that's not so problematic? I know these cars are incredible and ppl who knows love them, but somet...

Re: 1st gen. Subaru legacy meet in Seattle November 2012
I haven't specifically set any particular time and date as yet. I'm still trying to gauge whether there's enough interest here for ppl in the Pacific northwest to hold a meet. Anyone is welcome to give suggestions.

Re: Needs help with 91 legacy wagon auto AWD
Well, folks I have some good news to share concerning my previous problems with my legacy. I was experiencing random intermittent starting issues with the car. Had the starter and battery replaced. The problem kept reoccuring. I was baffled. Today, finally figured out what it was. The old grounding ...

Re: What's your favorite subaru, past or present?
It was 1997 and I still clearly recalled the very first time I saw a Legacy GT on the streets. It's got a "oh my gosh", a hood scoop! So, I thought perhaps, Subaru had brought a turbocharged legacy into the american shores. I thought that was a fantastic proposition, but alas, we all knew ...

Re: What's your favorite subaru, past or present?
I had briefly kept a late 80's subaru xt coupe, with auto trans. Even today, I still wondered, was it the car or was it my driving skills (of lack thereof)? One night, I was taking a corner in snowy conditions over 10 years ago, and recalled going very slowly, definitely less than 25 miles per hour....

Re: What's your favorite subaru, past or present?
Like I mentioned, u can also "dreamed" of ur ideal subaru. The 22B STi was never produced in 4 door sedan, but I can dreamed of it, bcos ideally i love the sedan bodystyle and that's that. It's also not 2.0 liters, think what the number 22 represents, that's for the EJ22 dohc turbo 2.2 lit...

What's your favorite subaru, past or present?
Well folks, just starting a new topic to kill some time. Well, what's yours? It could be either an actual production car from Subaru, worldwide or something you dreamed of that was never produced by the factory. Let's chime in. Mine would be the 1998 impreza 22b sti, but IN the 4 door body, and NOT ...

Re: Time to get some new tires for the WRX rims. Suggestions
I agree that we should not skimp on tires and brakes. Those things are crucial for handling, traction and stoppage. But I'd like to add that driving behavior and skills are also important factors. No point if you have the best tires and brakes in the world, but u drive like a freaking idiot. Feel fr...

I'm just fed up having to spend money filling up the gas tanks all the time......it's not even funny. Seriously, I would gladly take any car that gets over 30 plus mpg anytime......and let me add that even the new 2013 impreza only manage around 25 mpg and can u even call this progress? I think not!...

Re: Can my legacy be considered "rare"?
ABS was never made standard on first gen legacys, thought I correct someone who mentioned that. It's only standard on certain high end legacy but optional on others I think. I don't think u can find ABS on the base model, though. Air suspension only found on 4wd wagon legacy with auto transmission. ...

Re: Reading this really breaks my heart.....lol
To be honest, for my daily commute, either my legacy wagon, or a honda civic or even a diesel passat/jetta would be sufficient and gets the job done. But my point that i try to get across is my rant about the poor gas mileage coming from the subie. Wish it's a bit more than 20 mpg. I'll settle for 3...

Re: Can my legacy be considered "rare"?
Self leveling suspension was still in its infancy back then. It was proved unpopular with most buyers and subaru dropped the option after first gen. They never brought it back, correct? Ah, let's just stick to struts and springs.

Re: Needs help with 91 legacy wagon auto AWD
Ok, so I'm understanding that when the speedometer stopped working it will absolutely triggered the check engine light. So, they call this VSS (vehicle speed sensor) correct? I will get this fix soon, just have to find a good Subaru mechanic (there's a few around where i live) and get the job done. ...
