I did that very test on the way home last night and it did exactly as you describe. I will change the tranny fluid and check at the Subaru dealer on the additive. I looked into having the tranny flushed. The guy said that he did not like the look of the fluid and that flushing might do more harm tha...

Try some different combos of letting your foot off the brake before & after you shut off the car I will do that and then report back. Ciper's description is pretty much on target. The lunging (which is probably too strong a word for what I am trying to describe) happens when I stop the car, put...

Auto trans set in park, car lunges when key turned off

When I come to a stop in my 1994 Legacy wagon, put the car in "Park", and turn the key off, the car sort of lunges. It's similar to what happens when you put a car in "Drive", keep your foot on the brake, and turn the key off. This lunging effect goes away when I disable the AWD ...

On my lunch break today I got the car back from the alignment shop and drove it around some. It feels fine, and the difference between LF and RF seems to be less than when I first let it down off the jack stands last night. I measured from the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel arch and fou...

The guy at the junk yard said that the rears came from one car and the fronts came from another. To my eye, the LF, LR, and RR look normal. The wheel arch on the RF looks too high to me. If I can't figure it out, I will probably just get 2 new springs for the front. They are not that expensive.

Right front supposed to sit higher than left front?

I just replaced the air suspension on my 1994 Legacy Wagon with a standard suspension. The struts are new, everything else came from a junk yard. Now the right front sits about an inch higher than the left front. The guy at the alignment shop says that he checked and found out that it is supposed to...

Will 1997 Impreza strut tops fit 1994 Legacy wagon?

According to Alldata.com, the part number for the front strut tops for a 1997 Impreza are the same part number as for a 1994 Legacy wagon. Alldata gives the followingpart numbers for the rear strut tops: 20370AA200 for the Impreza; 20370FA200 for the Legacy. My local Subaru dealer said that he has t...

Disabling AWD fixes problem with veering?

My friend's 1996 Legacy wagon veers to one side. The problem goes away when the fuse is installed to put the car in FWD mode. Any ideas as to what may be the cause?

Can I replace air suspension with conventional struts?

The air suspension on my friend's 1996 Legacy wagon has gone haywire. I haven't seen it, but I am told the car jumps up and down eratically. The car is due for struts anyway, so I was thinking that I would ditch the air suspension and install conventional struts and strut tops. Are there any reasons...
