Re: Weird power loss at high speed...(troubleshooting)
Thanks for your thoughts so far guys... I drove the car up the hill three times yesterday. My plan was to disconnect the O2 sensor after the first run. .....but it drove up PERFECTLY three times. So if I had disconnected the O2 sensor it would have proved nothing (at least yesterday anyway...) Curre...

Re: Weird power loss at high speed...(troubleshooting)
I haven't gone up the hill for a few days....but I will try it with the 02 sensor out as soon as I do.
Does anyone know what the typical life span of the fuel injectors would be...? I always thought they were pretty trouble-free for the life of the car....?

Re: Weird power loss at high speed...(troubleshooting)
....and the other thing I thought might be giving trouble is the knock sensor...? Although I don't know much about the how / why / when with the knock sensor? What is it's relationship with the ECU? Is it only called upon at certain times?....or is it "listening" constantly and if so, what...

Re: Weird power loss at high speed...(troubleshooting)
Thanks muchly for your replies guys.... I failed to mention in my OP that I changed the fuel filter last w'end when I fitted the new fuel pump. The filter actually wasn't particularly old....I just wanted to eliminate it from the process. I would like to get a read on the fuel pressure as rough diam...

Weird power loss at high speed...(troubleshooting)
G'Day, I have a strange problem with my '93 Liberty & I'm hoping someone might have some ideas about the cause...? (I'll admit I haven't searched the forums much because the problem is so strange and specific I doubt there will a post with the same scenario / problem...) The car is an AWD '93 Li...

Re: 4EAT TCU part number search
was the gear selector in the "1st gear" position? If not, try it in 1st gear and retest. Actually no, I only tested with the shifter at 'D'. Ahhh....I remember reading something about preset duty cycle levels for each gear. I think 1st & reverse always receive maximum "AWD" ...

Re: 4EAT TCU part number search
OK, the replacement TCU is now in the car. (whoever decided the location for the ECU & TCU was a good idea is a sadistic maniac. What's wrong with the front kick-panels?). I've only driven about half a gas tank but so far, so good. No TB. And for the first time in almost a year, the POWER light...

Re: 4EAT TCU part number search
Hey thanks a lot for the file, Leg777. It looks to me like, ROUGHLY speaking, 'AA' series was '90-'91, 'AB' series was roughly '91-'92...and 'AC' was '93-'94.... ...but as for the subtle differences between numbers....well, there's prolly 6 Japanese technicians/designers who know what they mean and...

Re: 4EAT TCU part number search
Thanks for your reply. Over the last 6-8months I have tried periods with the fuse in & periods with the fuse out. But either way it's the same - aggressive TB. The dash light for 'FWD" illuminates every time the fuse is in. (I believe this is relevant for some symptoms...?) ...but it doesn...

4EAT TCU part number search
G'Day, First post from me...but a long time "lurker". Bloody good site this is. I believe in doing as much research as I can to avoid wasting anyone's time. I have an Australian delivered 1993 Legacy AWD wagon, EJ22E, with a slightly troublesome 4EAT. My car is the updated "series 2&...
