Re: 1994 Legacy SS, Aegean Blue Metallic, 4EAT, located in WV

Woah, time has gotten away from me.
This car is still for sale. Direct message me any questions.

The car will start and run, just will not pull itself on the front end. The half axle just spins on the passenger side.

1994 Legacy SS, Aegean Blue Metallic, 4EAT, located in WV

I have an ABM 1994 Turbo sedan for sale. Heres the skinny on it, it was my everyday driver for work, timing belt broke, mechanic installed new idler and belt, water pump, crank and cam seals, new hydraulic tensioner. I put another 200 ish miles on it, drove the car back to my farm and parked it. Nex...

Re: Timing Belt Change, Now a Dead Miss.

I ran over there after work, started pulling plug wires, quickly realized i had a dead miss on number 3, after pulling the wire off the coil and not hearing any change in idle. Swapped the wire to number 2, same thing happened on that cylinder. So obviously i have a bad plug wire, strange that it ha...

Timing Belt Change, Now a Dead Miss.

Some of you may have seen my last post, car left me sitting about a month ago. I got it towed, fooled around with it for the next few weeks, replaced various parts, including cam position sensor and ignitor. Turned out to be a broken timing belt. Had it towed to my mechanic, i ordered all the parts....

Re: Timing Belt Kit

Would this kit work? It looks like the only other things I would have to get would be the hydraulic tensioner and the cam seals?

Re: Timing Belt Kit

Thanks alot for your help jamal. Mechanic mentioned i should replace cam seals while in that far, would you happen to know a part number for them as well?

I assume the only difference between the N/A kit and the turbo kit is the different water pump?

Timing Belt Kit

Had the timing belt break on my 1994 Legacy Sport, 2.2 turbo, 4eat. Mechanic quoted me at 4 hours labor, plus 600 for the parts. I thought the 600 seemed a little bit steep. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a good kit that has all the essentials plus water pump, cam seals etc... T...

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

Well after weeks of frustration, I took the car down the road to a mechanic, just now called me back and said the timing belt had broke. Gahhh, sooo now, mechanic quoted me at 4 hours of labor plus 620 for parts. Parts being "hydraulic tensioner, timing belt, tensionser pulley, idler pulley, hy...

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

Update, sort of. I borrowed a friends test light, put the clamp on a ground and put the probe on the center pin on the coil connector, it lit and stayed lit during cranking. Then switched the clamp to the positive post on the battery, put the probe on both outside pins of the coil connector, they bo...

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

I do not have a spare ecu, any way i can rule the ecu out before i try and swap a new one in?

I am trying to relate the problem to the day before, when the car was surging. There has to be some relation.

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

Checked the coil connector with a multimeter, center pin 2 showed 12.85, batt voltage when on. Pin 1 showed .06 volts, and pin 3 showed .75 volts. All stayed the same when cranking as well.

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

Unplugged MAF, still no start.

Got a tested known good ignitor, hooked up it, and still no start.

Checked all connections, everything tight, no bare wires.

Left the batt unhooked a few days, now i still get code 13 and 49, but now also code 22 knock sensor showed up.

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

Josh, I haven't yet unplugged it and tried to start it. I was under the impression that a faulty MAF wouldn't keep it from starting, just that it would keep it from running efficiently and smoothly. As soon as the rain lets up, I will try it though.

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

So I used a test light and tested the coil connector, tested good at the center plug and stayed lit during cranking. Neither of the outside pins showed up on the test light, during cranking, key off, or key on. nothing. Sounds like it may be a bad ground somewhere.

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

Going back to the day before it shut off and wouldnt restart, i noticed it sort of surging while driving to the gas station. Kind of like a reduction in power, then it would come back fine. I have always been under the impression that a faulty MAF wouldnt keep the car from running, just from running...

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

Left the battery unhooked over night, came back today, put it in diagnostic mode, code 13 cam position sensor is still there, but now it shows a code 49 as well, Mass Airflow Sensor. Should i get a new MAF and try swapping it? Will a faulty MAF cause the 13 code Cam position sensor to trip?

Cleaned the MAF, no luck. On to the Cam Sensor change.

Legacy777, am I understanding correctly that I can buy just the sensor and not the wiring? I checked around with local parts stores and it seems like I have to buy the sensor and the small wire harness.

Re: EJ 22T no start, help needed.

So I put the Car into Diagnostic mode, flashed up a code 13 first, then a 23 second.

13 is a cam angle position sensor.
23 is abnormal voltage from airflow sensor.

Should i try to swap the cam position sensor first? Do i need to get just the sensor, or buy the sensor and the wire harness?

Here we go. This past weekend, left the car sit almost empty on fuel and it got real humid outside. Im afraid the tank may have made some condensation inside. Re: Stuck in a blizzard, help needed.

Ok so today took the battery out and took it to NAPA to have them charge and check it. Left it for a while, showed back up and they said it was bad, wouldnt hold the charge. This batt was only a month old, bought it february 4th. They warrantied it, got the new one, along with a new 4 ga. negative c...
