Re: Jamal's blanket suspension recommendations
Hey Aarin, that's all a good start. Fresh struts, ball joints, tie rods, etc go a long way. 18/18 is pretty good, but I liked 20 f with a 22mm rear bar set soft more, and am currently using 22 mm adjustable bars front and rear with the front to soft and the rear to stiff. Which is maybe the equivale...

Re: 6mt differences
Aside from gear ratios, there are a few different center diffs. Some jdm cars and the spec b legacy just have a vlsd and no dccd. 04-05 is a 35:65 native torque split (this only applies with the diff fully open, when there is any dccd lockup it changes). 06+ went to 41:59, but also added an addition...

Re: wrx sway bar and group N filamint
Oh, I was under the impression the split was 90-91 vs 92-94 like the rear strut tops/springs and facelift. You definitely want the newer c-link style that looks like this: http://jamalb.net/gallery/d/1120-2/IMG_3852.JPG that is a kartboy endlink and whiteline 22mm rear bar btw. Also if you're going ...

Re: wrx sway bar and group N filamint
Rear lateral links need to change, which is what the swaybar endlinks attach to. Looking for "trailing arms" will not get you the right parts. Swaybar mounting brackets are also needed. The holes are there in the chassis for them. I have a thread around here somewhere about doing it, the p...

Re: It's 2019 now, what are my FWD strut options?
Yeah that's my point.
Are gr2s better than monroes? yes.
Are brand new struts of any type better than 30 year old stock parts? again yes.
Is a new gr2 "15%" stiffer than a new oem strut? That I question.

Re: It's 2019 now, what are my FWD strut options?
Correct, Excel G = GR2. And, well, they still aren't sports car dampers. I question the claims that the GR2 were firmer than oem. Still the best option for a FWD. Otherwise you're getting crappy gabriels from autozone or something. Part numbers for a 90-91 FWD are: 235063 235064 235071 235072 92-94 ...

Re: 4 Pot 06’ WRX/ 2Pot H6 upgrade wheels size
Yeah it comes down to wheel/spoke design more than size or offset. There are a number of 15" wheels that fit over those but most oem 16x6.5 wheels do not fit because of the width of the calipers. I think there is a forester wheel that works, the 16x7 wheels that came on the 98-01 impreza rs fit...

Re: Disc brake conversion
The brake prop valve should be on the strut tower in the engine bay. 3rd gen legacy rear brakes are a good option. Those are the larger "H6" 290mm discs, and go well with wrx front brakes. You would need 16" wheels to go over the wrx front brakes though. I am not sure on the differenc...

Re: Tein Street Advance Z
I think that got answered in another thread. And I think 92-94 springs and perches are the same as a GC, but 90-91 are a different diameter even up front (the rear is definitely different). Also, these coilovers are now in stock and ready to ship. Anyone interested in a set should send me a pm or em...

Re: EJ20G COOLANT CROSSOVER PIPE O RING GASKETS?? HELP!!!
Not exactly. The cars with the inlet under the manifold have a lower profile version. And some have an extra coolant temp sensor.
But they all should attach to the block the same way and have the outlet at the same spot.

There used to be pictures around here, I think I even had posted them, of the different tops, but they are gone now. I think I had them on imageshack or they were lost when I had to reinstall gallery on my own hosting. So like I said, yes, all those cars have the same top mounts and the same bolt pa...

Re: Currently available struts, springs, and coilovers
The key there is that you used wrx wagon parts. And you're right, those are pretty much the same and the 02-07 impreza wagon does have the same track width as the 1st gen impreza and legacy. However, the 02-07 sedan is wider. The strut towers in the chassis are in the same place, the subframes are t...

Re: EJ22T Pistons
Good to hear. I made my own compression ratio sheet lately and also get 7.5:1
SOHC 2.5 rods are 131.6mm and that would get it over 8:1 for anyone else looking into this. +2mm rods would be even better but that's a lot of money.

Re: Hello! New here with some questions!
Hi, I sell the pistons, and in fact recently sent some to a guy who was rebuilding his 22t. If you are ready to buy a set send me an email and I'll get you set up. If you need other stuff (bearings, rods, headstuds...) I can do that too. JE also makes forged pistons for these cars. And in fact, they...

Currently available struts, springs, and coilovers
I've been making some updates to my website and going through a bunch of catalogs lately, and figured I'd post about some of the parts you can get for these cars right now in 2018. Since the BC/BF suspension is basically identical to what is on a GC Impreza, there's actually quite a bit. The only th...

Re: How should I build this giant cube!? Build recommendatio
I'd wonder about the details of that warranty. Like, it probably has to be stock car and the block installed by a dealer or something like that. You go and put a new oem block in some 30 year old car with a bigger turbo and a bunch of aftermarket parts and tuning and blow it up I don't think they'll...

Re: Tein Street Advance Z
GC impreza tops are the same as the legacy. Actually, BC, BD, BE, GC, GD all use the exact same front top mounts. GC and 92-94 legacy have the same rear tops. Spring perches, which go below the top mounts, do change, but those teins come with perches to fit on the smaller diameter springs so it shou...

What's your question?
No the tensioner is not causing any issues.
Yes you need to replace that cam gear. Looks the same as a Legacy GT 25d part.

I'd be interested to know if rallispec has any around or if you'd have to wait for them to come from RCM. One of the kelfords is listed at one of my distributors but is out of stock. If your wiring to the knock sensor was messed up I would take a close look at the maf and map sensor wiring as well.

Rob tune use the stock ecu. You would need to get ahold of him to learn more. Something like an AEM ems4 or a megasquirt is a pretty inexpensive standalone option if you are willing to do all the wiring yourself. Ideally you make a short jumper harness from the stock connectors instead of cutting ev...

Re: Ej22T noob!! Need help!
Yeah a wrx ej20 in decent shape would be an easy swap. If you pulled that 2.2 apart for new pistons and rings you'd probably want to get it honed and replace the bearings too. For aftermarket, Wiseco and JE make nice pistons for the 22t. What are the stock ring sizes for the turbo? If they're 1.2/1....
