Philips LED map light conversion
Hey y'all! I recently had to replace the interior map lights in my Legacy due to age - which makes sense, given the age of these old Toshiba bulbs I extracted from the sockets (perhaps even originals!) https://i.imgur.com/Vfbe6BU.jpg These bulbs came ordered from Amazon, which said they were an exac...

Re: 20 years of Legacy Central
Still here and still on the road in my '92 L wagon...295k mi and counting! Thanks to everyone who continues to be a part of this community - these cars are becoming rarer and rarer as are parts sources and the esoteric know-how of experienced enthusiasts. I'll be more active this summer as the Yeti ...

WTB: 4 x EJ22 N/A Fuel Injectors
Hey all,
I'm in the market for a set of red top fuel injectors for the N/A version of the EJ22. All four would be ideal, as would better-than-shit shape. Rebuilt or new would be great.
Alternately, can anyone recommend a good source or brand for reman'd injectors?

Re: Jerky acceleration (did all the search)
Also, I'd have a look at your engine mounts as well. I've been experiencing a similar jerk when going on/off the throttle at moderate RPMs due to my shitty mounts. The jerk comes from the engine reacting to the throttle but shaking while doing so, resulting in that shake being passed up the drivelin...

This. The two lines in question will be poking out of the end of the radiator opposite the expansion tank. Mine came capped with rubber when I bought it new; perhaps the board has a recommendation on capping technique/materials?

Re: oil pressure sensor
This is a problem I've had twice now on my car. My old motor's OPS bled a little oil, whereas the one that's on my new motor is more of a hemorrhage. Earlier this week I noticed that there was oil pooling on the top of the block and running down the pax side valve cover - enough oil that I was sure ...

EJ22T in a Vans RV6A - Subaru Aero Engines
Hey guys! I was doing some research this morning and stumbled upon this page which shows the conversion and installation of an EJ22T into a light aircraft! http://www.sdsefi.com/rv4.htm He's got some serious fabrication skills. I've heard about light planes powered by EA81s and EJs, but this was the...

Re: dat heat shield rattle
For a normal DD I'd agree that you don't even need the exhaust wrap. Might actually be better without it, as wrap is known to trap moisture and accelerate rust on manifolds/headers. I did read a few old threads that mentioned this phenomenon. My thought was to make the tape a maintenance item and r...

Re: thewaterboy's 1993 Legacy 2.2 NA Wagon mini-build
After doing so much to the Audi, doing anything on this is a total breeze! I know that feel, bro. I used to be a vintage BMW guy, but working on these cars is 1000x easier than their intricate German cousins. I like those wheels! And it's always good to see another N/A wagon...we're the minority he...

dat heat shield rattle
OK guys, I know I can't be the only driver on here who's become more than slightly annoyed at the rattly stock exhaust manifold heat shields on our cars that get louder as the miles go by. Mine is harmonic; it only rattles loudly about every 500-750 RPM but at idle, my car sounds like a beater. Afte...

I'm also interested in taking care of my rusty muffler in the next 1k miles. Anyone know what the stock pipe diameter / exhaust size is for shopping purposes? And will exhausts built for the GC Impreza fit?

Re: New here first post - upgrades / maintenance recommendat
No, more or less I meant why do people change from R-2 to R134a? I've heard different stories. Like rallyak said, it's a pain in the ass to get. R-12 is a much older refrigerant; the molecule that it's composed of has a much, much higher greenhouse potential when released into the atmosphere than n...

Post up your gnarliest roads! Our cars can handle a lot more trail than most people will give them credit for. More from the high country! This is the Boreas Pass road, originally used by a narrow gauge railroad to go from Como, CO to the then mining town of Breckenridge. It ascends to 11,481 feet to pass over the Continental Divide along the saddle between Boreas Mountain and Mt. Silverheels. The way up: ht...

Re: major_tom's alpine '92 SW
Josh, that is a sort of seal thing put on by a rebuilder. It's made to melt or distort if you overheat badly enough, and bam! your warranty is denied. 100% correct. Those were put on by the shop in Boulder. 6 mo/6k mi are the terms they gave me...not bad for such a reasonably priced engine. $750 ou...

Not sure about ports on the new motor, I'll be sure to check before I head up tomorrow. What is my current '92 motor, for reference? And will that require more work on the install end? Also, is it normal to be this irrationally excited for a new motor? The car still pulls fairly hard up a hill with ...

I like that lift! How much work did the swap involve? I've often found myself wanting an inch or two more clearance for trails marked 'Jeeps only'
