My Legacy has just about 100k miles on it, and as far as I know the filter was never changed.

Re: ATF Drain and Re-fill instructions, please comment!
Thanks for the replies. Here is what I have so far. Please comment with suggestions and advice! 1) Get the car up to operating temp. 2) (with the car off? Yes, OFF ) Open the ATF drain plug (there are 3 plugs - 1 for the Oil, the Differential and the ATF - make sure you're doing the correct one), a...

Thanks for the replies. Here is what I have so far. Please comment with suggestions and advice! 1) Get the car up to operating temp. 2) (with the car off?) Open the ATF drain plug (I assume its a bolt, like the one for the engine oil), and let the ATF fluid flow out. 3) re-insert the ATF drain plug....

ATF Drain and Re-fill instructions, please comment!
The awesome members of this forum helped me determine that I should preform an ATF drain and re-fill on my 94' Legacy wagon. I have experience doing basic maintenance work on cars but I have never done this procedure before. Therefore the main goal of this thread is to assemble, with the help of the...

Re: Should I change the Transmission fluid myself?
Even if it's low miles, the age of the ATF should be taken into consideration. Even if it's not the cause of your problems I'd suggest replacing it for peace of mind. So, is there any reason not to do a partial ATF drain and fill? I have heard that messing with the ATF can cause all sorts of proble...

Re: Should I change the Transmission fluid myself?
Have you checked the ATF? As long as its still red/pink and doesn't have a burnt appearance or smell, and is at the right level, its safe to say its not the cause of any problems. As far as warming up, when my car was 4eat I found that incredibly annoying. Wastes a ton of gas if your commute involv...

Re: Should I change the Transmission fluid myself?
Other thing to note, what you are experiencing with the transmission not shifting into the high gear when the transmission is cold is NORMAL behavior and by design. This is done to heat up the transmission fluid to normal operating temperature more quickly. So, before I go about trying to figure ou...

Should I change the Transmission fluid myself?
I believe my Automatic Transmission fluid needs a' changing. I have a 1994 legacy with just about 100k miles, and I don't think the ATF was ever changed. Now the reason I think the fluid needs changing is because sometimes the car takes to long to switch into the highest gear (especially when the we...

Fusible Link Gauge?
I have a 94' Legacy wagon, and I burnt out the fusible link under the hood when I accidentally crossed the cables while jumping my car. The fusible link is black in color. I know they sell OEM replacements, but they are a little pricey for a piece of wire. They sell various gauge fusible link wire a...

Re: AC Suddenly Stopped Working
Hi,
thanks for the reply!
The low-side pressure is 35 psi when the compressor is off.
(I only have the "low-side" gauge).

AC Suddenly Stopped Working
One evening I went to pick up my brother in quite a severe rain storm driving through some pretty high standing water (probably close to a foot deep in places). The next day I drove my car and the AC just didn't work, the fan blows, the compressor sounds like it's kicking in, but there is absolutely...
