In most cases I decel (via either brakes or engine braking) in a straight line before entering the turn. Then I maintain neutral front to rear balance while starting the turn. That means using a little throttle to maintain speed- not speeding up nor slowing down. Then roll on the throttle while pass...

I'm not a HUGE fan of sway bars when it can be done properly by re-designing the suspension geometry, but sometimes a sway bar is the easiest and, pretty much only viable option. Yeah, considering I have yet to see any roll center adjusters for a Subaru. You'd think that Whiteline would have one, c...

One of the nice features of AWD is that you have the torque steer that most front wheel drive vehicles have. Put your right foot down and the car goes where you point it. Torque steer in a FWD car is when you smash the gas, and the car jumps in one direction or another. Equal length shafts help pre...

Let me describe the noise: Normal sounds at idle. Rev to 2k and get a slight rattle on the decel. At certain RPMs the rattle is loud. That is exactly how I would describe the noises that I have experienced on each of my Subarus at various times. They have always turned out to be exhaust and/or heat...

Some are louder. It might just be variation between turbos, but it's also highly likely that it's wear in the turbo itself, so if you brag about how loud your turbo is compared to other legacies (if it's really loud) you just might have a turbo that's ready to shit it's pants into your engine. Re: Loose Nuts in Exhaust

What would happen if, theoretically of course *ahem*, one dropped a small bolt and it bounced off the X-member and right into the hanging exhaust manifold? There's no way to suck it up so I imagine it would just rattle around and annoyingly. There's no way to retrieve it without taking the whole th...

Alright, I was wondering if the pulling to the right could be caused by the awd?? Is there any chance of that, the suspension seems to check out, it all looks good, the car is aligned. Sure, the stock boost control solenoid, under command from the ECU, with reflashed parameters. Ought to work.

Here are a few tips... 1. Get a damp sponge. Wipe the hot tip of your iron on the sponge every so often. It cleans the crap off the tip and makes it nice and shiny. Plus, the iron works better when you do this. 2. Heat the joint, not the solder. This is somewhat akin to "keep your eye on the ba...

I've found (in my admittedly limited experience) that the best tool to use in removing/installing spark plugs is the tool that comes with car. It's in the gray plastic tool kit pouch in your trunk. One end is a spark plug tool, the other end fits in a 19mm (I think) socket. It's the perfect length. ...
