Well that's a good call Matt. I'll do that tomorrow. Did you just ground to the body? I'll probably just crimp the wires together. Involves a lot less heat. Every time I have used a soldering iron, I seem to burn myself, lol. You don't need to ground to the body. Connect both wires for your new gau...

You're probably going to notice a decent difference in braking performance from the new calipers, the ones i just put on made a huge difference due to the fact that only one piston on each side was really stopping my car. If your slider pins are in bad shape you should probably replace those as wel...

Front brake problem- the other side. And.... new tires!
It finally dawned on me that the excessive brake dust on the passenger side front indicates that the pad is dragging. So it took it apart last night. On the pad there is supposed to be (in this order) the friction material, the backing plate, a black shim with slots in it, and finally a shiny chrome...

Ironic, saw these right after i read this post. I wish i could get them but they will prolly go for like 250 plus another 280 for shipping to here :-( Wow... shipping from where? The best deal on shipping large items like wheels/tires has to be FedEx Ground. For example, I shipped a set of MY01 RS ...

So far removing the caliper and prying it is probably what i am going to do, with a lot of heat and PB Blaster. I would really like to get the WRX brakes, but this is still my winter car and i need to be able to put the stock winter rims and all season tires back on when it starts to snow. Does any...

Front brake problem- caliper hang up? Long story...
There has been an issue with my driver side front brake since I bought this car (91 Sport Sedan). When braking to a stop, there was a creaking or scraping sound. It is associated with the wheel rotation speed, i.e. the sound slows and stops as the rate of speed decreases and stops. The sound only ha...

Re: 17X8 48 offset??
Will this wheel fit a 92 Legacy? The tires are 225/45/17. The car has stock suspension. If you just consider the tire size only, ignoring the offset for a moment, the 225/45 is not the right size at all. The most appropriate 17" sizes would be: 205/45 225/40 If you go 215 you have the choice o...

Welcome... I remember seeing you back when I was lurking on the svx.net. I was searching for an SVX and trying to learn all I could. Never did buy one, but made an offer on one to a local Subaru dealership service manager. He decided to keep his SVX and he sold his Legacy instead. I still dig the SV...

Think so? I'll think about it. If I can fit the 225's (225/50/16 is identical to the 205/55/16 stock WRX tires) then I will probably go that route. Otherwise, i've got no reason to not go with a 205/50/16 over the stock wrx 205/55/16. You are correct, that is the stock size for a WRX. Problem is th...

Re: sun roof
Hello! After a hard washing of my Legacy, I have problems to open the sun rood, because of the rubber seal. Do you recomend my a particular lubrication , or just multipurpuse oil? Thanks for the help! jose What can I use for the windows too? I had that problem once, caused by the rubber trim around...

3 screws next to the speaker grille connecting the door panel to the door. 2 more screws next to the handle. Be careful when you pull the panel off because of the wire for the power windows is short. I used 1 inch spacers that i had to drill into the door metal. The factory speakers have built in s...

Wow. I missed this whole thread. I want to upgrade my rims on my stock 93 Legacy L sedan (FWD). I see some of you talking about putting on the WRX wheels/rims. Is this possible without any additional mods? And buying the 205-50-16 tire would not effect the Speedo? Is all this correct? Sorry if this...

You could try adjusting it at the brake handle, but good luck - I couldn't get the nuts to move for anything. Steve That's what I did already. When I bought the car I doubt the handbrake was doing anything at all. I adjusted it using the locked nuts under the arm rest. You have to use two wrenches ...

Parking brake adjusted to limit. It's not enough...
I've adjusted my parking brake stroke, and it does not quite reach the spec in the owners manual. It is supposed to tighten in 7-8 clicks. I go 9+ clicks and if the car is on an incline, the brake can just barely hold it. The adjuster is at it's limit, no further slack can be taken up. Do I have to ...
