Auto to Manual First gen compaired to 95 Legacy

So I was wondering if it was possible to run a first gen trans in a 95 Legacy wagon. Now I did do some searching on here and it seems the drive shaft would be different but other then that what would be other differences? Also does anyone know what might be different in a first gen AT to 5MT vs a 95...

Looks like it's going together well! Keep her going and I have to agree these cars look so much better with tinted windows, but that's my opinion.

Re: Engine stand advice?

I would say just be careful things brake and its best done with a engine hoist, I've done it with other methods and it was such a pain. Be very careful with the torque converter, I've never known it to be fragile but they can't move when you pull the engine because if they slide out its a pain to ge...

Re: MCM 11 Second 2nd gen legacy coming soon

I won't lie I think it would be sweet to have something like Gramps! It is kinda funny those that he's doing this crazy build and people build monsters on here all the time. Now it might not be 11 seconds fast but they do well for early 90's car... unless your NICO haha his car is crazy. On a side n...

Re: Progress from ghetto beater, to something...better?

Haha I agree with Josh, those cars are held together by those things its ridiculous. You went with a different way then I had imagined, I would have cut out the bad spots and welded in (or actually more like have my dad weld in) clean metal so then all the rust is gone.

I have only ever seen the plastic MAF and I've seen them from Japan and Lafayette (Yey hometown wins) and they've ranged from 89-94 in the salvage yard so I'm over here going "what metal MAF??)

Re: Interesting 1991 from Chile

The raised roof if part I remember seeing as part of a GT series (I saw it in a fs ad with a 94 GT wagon) but it is an interesting car to say the least. I have to agree with mike it does look like a 1.8 cause I know it could have been either version especially with this year

How to remove body side moldings?

Hey guys I'm sure there's a write up on this somewhere on here that I can't find. I would really appreciate it if someone could attach a link to the topic thread on how to remove the side molding on these cars, I know I could do it I just need to see pictures of how to do it so then I can understand...

I love peoples experience with knock sensors in these cars. Either you've never had to replace them or (like me) have had to replace them on every Subaru engine you've ever worked on.

I love your methods to fix your "walrus" dent because I'm sitting here going I would sooo do that myself. But great job so far it really is looking better already (just be happy you don't have to struggle with east coast rust its a killer)

Re: Spark plug FAQ: NGK V-powers, not Bosch platinums...

It's funny I got NGK iridiums for my 91 and she seemed to have some serious pep afterwards. I once had to get on it (petal to the floor) to avoid a head on collision not long after installing them and I swear I've never gotten a response like I did then ever before.

Re: Possibly starter problems, but I have no idea.

I remember I had a problem with my starter when I first got it and we thought it was the starter. After bolting up a new one and still hard problems, we looked at it again and found out it was a bad positive cable from the battery to the starter. Once we replaced it we never had a problem, so I woul...

I have to agree with Mike even with the pump gone its quick to notice. My 91 didn't have ABS and the ones that did or do I almost always see stickers somewhere on the car that mention if it has ABS.

Re: Why is my engine shaking?

This is just a thought could it maybe be a broken engine mount? I mean if it's not bolted down like it should, in theory, cause a bad shake. Again just a thought I could have no idea what I'm talking about either.
