Re: 1993 Legacy sedan
Remove the 3 screws at the bottom front of the speaker pod, pull the small cylinder of black foam out of the inner door handle to reveal a screw. Beneath the power window buttons there is a small rectangular panel. Pry this off with a small screw-driver to reveal a screw. The hardest part is removin...

Re: Noise when making right turns
well if your not turning the steering wheel its definitely not what I said then. And it only does it when you are turned? Just for curiosity, try taking the power steering drive belt off and see if it makes that noise when the pump is not running. *watching the video again made me think that someth...

Re: Noise when making right turns
Thanks for the reply. The camera is around the drivers floor area. Although I don't think it would matter, as you can hear it anywhere inside the car. The car is at a dead stop, and the steering wheel is just off the lock, I'm not turning the wheel when it's making the sound. So, I don't think it's ...

Re: Noise when making right turns
Bringing this back up. I use this car as a winter car, so now it's been getting more use the last few weeks. The sound is still there. I just replaced the muffler on Monday, and the car is a lot smoother and doesn't seem to be doing this sound anymore on the highway. Today is the first long trip I'v...

Re: Defect central locking?
Do you know what model of car you have? As robertpaige mentioned, only certain model levels had the central door locks. If you wanted power locks and you don't currently have them, you could buy this kit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Door-Power-Central-Lock-Kit-With-2-Keyless-Entry-Car-Remote-Control-C...

Re: OEM keyless entry?
I believe you can program the brain on the eBay system I have. But, like I said, I haven't tried. So, you may be able to control the brain from the Subaru remote you already have. I have a Compustar alarm installed in my WRX, so I think if I tried to use my remotes, I would be controlling both the W...

Re: OEM keyless entry?
That system you posted looks to have the same fob as my system does. It's pretty close to the OEM ones you posted, however, instead of the Subaru logo, it has the trunk release button, or an alarm signal button. (From my experience, it's just the picture, and they both control the remote trunk relea...

Re: Some questions about the VIN
I'm not sure for Subaru, but, I do know that for some manufactures, that production number is how many vehicles were made at that particular plant.
So, if the assembly plant made other vehicles before the Legacy, that might explain the higher number.

Re: OEM keyless entry?
That seems like it would be a lot of work to make it work. I'm thinking there might be another system that that unit works with to actually move the door actuators? I installed a keyless system into my 91. I have central door locks (door actuators on 3 doors, none on the drivers door). It cost me $1...

Re: Best odyssey battery
I've had my Odyssey battery in my 2010 WRX for 4 years now. Not a single issue. I had another battery in the Legacy, and it died on me in the winter, so I swapped the Odyssey battery into the Legacy and have just kept it in there. Fortunately they are the same model, 35-PC1400T The Legacy has discha...

Re: auto lockout doors help with door locks
Wikipedia defines central locks as:
"Power door locks (also known as electric door locks or central locking) allow the driver or front passenger to simultaneously lock or unlock all the doors of an automobile or truck, by pressing a button or flipping a switch"

Re: auto lockout doors help with door locks
Hey there. Also, just to add, you probably don't have keyless entry, which is why you don't have a remote. I actually just installed a keyless system in my car, one actuator for the drivers door off eBay for $5 and the system for $10! I'm having this issue with my right rear door, have to do this fi...

I have a 2010 WRX and have tried putting my stock wheels on the Legacy. It sits on the spring perches (mostly the front), as you can see in this pic (225/45/17): http://i292.photobucket.com/albums/mm23/loweredtalon/f76c8ab9-d3e3-4c64-a0cc-fa09c9d275af_zpsstzdgbvp.jpg Car has never been hit, but has ...

I saw your pics on facebook. Have you tried it with the door panel on? I remember having issues on my car with the actuator outside the door like that. Hey, I followed the directions from this thread here: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=42955 I measured and used those picture...

Installed my keyless entry today.

Still have some cleaning up to do, but had to stop since it started raining, and I gave up my double car garage to store 2 of my cars for the winter.

What about left ball joint?
Maybe when the weight transfers over to that side?
I too am interested in knowing if there is a way to test the top hat theory.

Re: after an exhaustive effort....
Your clunk sound's similar to what I'm having. Mine has a rotating kind of noise when turning right or veering right. There is no play anywhere, and no noise when in the air. In your case, did you check the ball joint(s)? I'm thinking a wheel bearing for mine, but until it gets worse, and I know for...

I don't want to let it get to that point.robertpaige wrote:I let mine get so bad my whole wheel was loose. I just replaced my knuckle with a used one.
Probably see about having it replaced in the next week or so.
I don't drive it every day, so it won't see many more miles anyways.

Re: Noise when making right turns
Take a look at your bushings. Are there any rub marks in the fenderwell? I'll have to check these. Been focusing on other things. The engine doesn't have any movement, so I think I can rule that one out. I don't drive it everyday, but I brought it today and I noticed it seems to be starting to hum ...

Re: Noise when making right turns
Hi, Where'd you get that axle? Brand/model? Cheap ones are junk, IMHO. Loose/worn motor mounts allowing the engine to move enough on RH turns to cause an issue? Can you rock/move the engine around while it's turned off? GL, Td Hi, thanks for the response! The axle is a reman OEM axle. The noise was...

Re: Noise when making right turns
Both the ball joint and axle are brand new.
There is also no noise when turning the hub while the car is in the air.
Including when listened to with a stethoscope.
