Re: EJ20G dead cylinder with good fuel, spark, and compressi
Really rough idle and sounds like it runs on 2 cylinders?
Just finished my 20G swap into my 91, and used the 95+ style crank sensor, and I had to swap the pins due to the polarity change. Cleared right up.

Re: Machine crankshaft
Most shops are not equipped to machine crankshafts, let alone a Subaru cranks. Since the crank is identical across the board for 1.8. 2.0 (phase 1), and 2.2 (phase 1), a good used one is almost guaranteed cheaper. And about the thrust bearing, I was doing a bit of research, and it turns out you can ...

Re: No Oil Pressure and Loud lifters and Rocker Arm Confusio
Since there were no problems (noise) before the low oil pressure, I'd look at the bottom end or oil pump. Also less common, but I've seen the case half seals fail due to old age. Easiest thing to do would be to swap the oil pump with a good known one, but everything else involves engine removal and ...

Might be hard to find without a complete diff. Without those stubs, the diff is next to useless...
On that note, I've got a good, but high mileage diff (with stubs) if you're interested...

AWIC Overflow for MT?
While buttoning-up my AWIC install into the BC, I noticed there is NO way the factory overflow bottle for the AWIC is going to fit into the stock location. Then I looked at the JDM diagrams and found they only list the overflow bottle assembly for the AT setup (no clutch MC to get in the way). Was t...

Re: AWIC folks...
My Legacy 20G is running the variable speed control. You can bypass it by jumping the dropping resistor and it will run at full speed with ignition on. I plan on going with an ESL in the future for any management upgrades, so keeping the two step pump is possible. I'm keeping the low speed as I don'...

Re: EJ20G Swap No Spark Cylinder 2 and 3. FIXED
SOLVED. New-style cam and crank sensor, conversion harness. After more head scratching, pulled the pinout for 95 EJ22E, discovered the pins are swapped for Signal (+) and Signal (-) at the ECU/harness plug. Swapped the pins at the connector for the sensor, idles like butter and fires on half a turn....

Re: EJ20G Swap No Spark Cylinder 2 and 3. (EJ20G Legacy ECU)
Update: Put a brand-new crank sensor in (95+ style), with my conversion harness. Harness has zero resistance and is pinned correctly. I also grabbed the cam, am working on conversion harness for that one too. And I'll double check the intake grounds, but when I check the grounds AT the ECU plug, I g...

Make it two! Haha
I was on the verge of ordering a 95 Altima clutch master as it seems to have the same res. Also made by Nabco, but Nissan NLA'd the res. Aftermarket is still available though.
But it looks like this won't be a problem..

Re: EJ20G Swap No Injector Pulse (EJ20G Legacy ECU)
Update: it's a spark issue. All injectors are pulsing consistently, but I'm getting a 1-in-20 firing of coils on cylinders 2 and 3. The problem comes from the ECU only triggering the ignitor. When it does trigger 2 and 3, the engine coughs and tries to start. I've even disconnected the ignitor to ch...

Re: EJ20G Swap No Injector Pulse (EJ20G Legacy ECU)
Update: I doubled checked the timing (as I was out of ideas and Josh had the same thought), but it was bang on. I put a new t-belt on it before dropping in. How ever, I did swap out the cam sensor with my unknown spare, and it ALMOST spun up to stay running. Swapped back, and it now runs at about 30...

Offset Clutch Master Cylinder Reservoir
GOOD NEWS. 10/24/16. I ordered, from a U.S. dealer, the offset Clutch Master Cylinder and it arrived! Looks like a N.O.S package, and I don't know how many are left, but it was not stocked at any SOA warehouse, and we are assuming it was a Japan direct part. Part number 37235AA010. List is $12, whol...

Re: EJ20G Swap No Injector Pulse (EJ20G Legacy ECU)
Thanks for the link! I found out on birtyolbc.co.nz, that the K8 supposedly comes from a gen 1 TW, 5MT EJ20G. So I'm glad that's solved. I also got my hands on a set of 'noid lights and hooked up the only easily available injector (cyl 1) and at first, it didn't want to blink. Then it was blinking r...

EJ20G Swap No Spark Cylinder 2 and 3. FIXED
SOLVED. Cliff Notes: Changed cam and crank sensor. I also updated the design to the new ones, see caution below. I converted to the new style (sensor + harness) crank and cam sensors using the pigtail from the old sensors and soldering the matching plug on the sensor end. The crank and cam plugs are...

Re: AWIC folks...
Just to add my 2 cents here, but I've been pouring over the OE Legacy Intercooler control logic (according to the FSM) and it seems to be strictly based upon throttle opening percentage. There's a table that says when the pump runs full speed, but it essentially runs as soon as the ignition is switc...

Re: 22690AA130 Oxygen sensor EJ20G Legacy Liberty
I used a Ag/Sn solder and have verified on a test harness that the difference in ohm reading is <1.1M (the limit of my meter) and is negligible.
I DID use all of the new sensor's harness and added on to the end to make up the difference (~4 inches).

22690AA130 Oxygen sensor EJ20G Legacy Liberty
In the middle of an early EJ20G swap (BC to BC), and wanted to replace the O2 sensor. OE number is 22690AA130, but of course is JDM only. Luckily, I had the connector head so using a 3-wire universal was an option. I used a 3-wire universal for a 96 Legacy 2.5 (upstream, as the downstream is 4-wire,...
