Re: CJ's Prefaced 92 SS build 22T/205 Hybrid

looking good, man. Your garage looks like my shop with all the Subaru's, and parts lol. The only difference is I have a ton of VW air-cooled parts along with the Subaru stuff.

Re: Mister Anderson's 91 Legacy SS (UPDATE STI-RA 5 speed)

Still drives the same with the speedo hooked up. I still need to get the HalTech in, and tuned. hopefully the tune will help with that idle lol. I might remove the LW crank pulley, and re-install the stock one. The engine is super easy to kill with that LW pulley, and the 9 pound flywheel. This car ...

Re: 91 legacy 2.2 turbo exhaust..what works? whats recommen

I'm running a Tomei ELH with up-pipe, Nvidia DP, and a Tomioka catback exhaust. All of this was intended for a 02-07 WRX. How much modification if any did it require?? The header fits perfect. The downpipe hanger matches the transmission mounting point. All the other hangers are off, but not by too...

Re: Mister Anderson's 91 Legacy SS (UPDATE STI-RA 5 speed)

Thanks everyone for the input!! I have few videos of the car now that it is running. First start up was flawless, no problems. The car still has the stock VF11 turbo running at waste gate pressure. Re: Spark Plug Analysis

looks almost like sulfate. Sodium sulfate can be found in ethanol fuels. Most gas stations have around 10-15% ethanol in their fuel (season depending). Leaded fuel will also make plugs kinda yellowish or rusty looking, but since modern cars can't run leaded fuel without destroying O2 sensors, and le...

Re: Mister Anderson's 91 Legacy SS (UPDATE STI-RA 5 speed)

update Been a long time since I have done an update on this project. Well I am returning the sedan back to stock since I have bought a 1993 turbo wagon. I got a call from the previous owner asking if I was interested. I paid a grand for the car, and has around 265k miles on it. The only catch was t...

Re: Turbo Inlet 90 Elbow No Longer Available

Let us know how that works, I have a TD05 with a 90 degree inlet and would rather use that elbow than the makeshift one I have. It might be a few weeks, they have ordered from Subaru. Eventually this hose will end up on my sedan. I just wanted to break the wagon's engine in with the stock set-up. M...

Re: Center diff questions:

Well, mine is the ver 5/6 RA spec one with the wider 1-3 gears. That plus the 4.44fd taking some stress off the gears. Mike, I have confirmed my V4 also has the wider gears, and is the same ratio as the V5/6. When I got my transmission I tore it down for inspection. I measured the root bases/widths...

I'm going to give RHD-Japan a try. My intake is a V1 STi, so this will actually work out better for me. I'll post my experience with them here.

Re: gasket matching

What Josh said. I spent hours, upon hours working my head ports. I don't know if I would do it again since it takes so much time. Once you start there is no turning back. These were taken at different stages of the job. The heads are 1998 EJ25D's. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e75/partybob2006/M...

I paid 1200 for my V4 STi-RA transmission with the DCCD. That price also included the computer, full car body harness, driveline, and the R180 4.44 Mechanical LSD.

Re: Rear LSD question

I think those VLSD's are kinda worthless in terms of functionality. If you could find a mechanical R160 that would be cool. They are around, and most of them are 4.44 ratio. The R160 MLSD's are a lot easier to find verses the R180 4.44 MLSD's. When I was researching the R180's out of earlier STi's (...

FYI-A phase 1 complete center diff, and housing will work on a phase 2 transmission/gears. This also works with phase 2 center/housing and a phase 1 transmission case and gears. It only works with the complete center diff and matching housing. I have done this twice now with no ill results. I do hav...

Re: Rear LSD question

Does it have a 4.44? Some of those JDM 4.44's were a mechanical type LSD R160 (I think only STi models) . I had a 3.90 VLSD in my Legacy before I swapped to a mechanical LSD R180. I do believe the opposite wheel did move in the same direction as the other, but only slightly when both wheels were off...

Re: Knock problems

Yesterday I replaced my cam, crank, and knock sensor wiring. Make sure you solder the connections and if you can, shrink wrap everything. Harbor Freight sells rolls of shrink wrap and also heat guns for cheap. I picked up some shielded 3 wire at Home Depot for around 40ish cents a foot. The last 3 t...

Re: What cam are you running

I have Kelford 272's in my ported EJ25D heads with Supertech valves/dual springs. What are your plans for engine management? Those cams will require something other than the stock ECU so you can tune them to get the most out the cams. Any EJ20K cam will work, they are almost identical to the 25D hea...

Re: Ej22T stroker questions.

I don't think that they are necessarily trying to get more money out of you, but more so to get you to the proper quench (squish). Quench will change how the air/fuel will combust in the chamber. Here is a link that somewhat discusses this; http://www.theoldone.com/archive/quench-area.htm If that do...

According to the FSM: .0004 - .0012 in. #1 & #5 limit .0016 # 2,3,4 limit .0014 My #2,3,4 are between .0015-.002 which I guess is little loose than stock. I wish I had a the right kind of mic for the job and I could come up with a more accurate measurement. I used plastigauge when I checked mine.

I would mock assemble the block like you stated in an earlier post. To actually add to your thread, here is my set-up: EJ257 crank, BC 1.141 rods (52mm journals), Wiseco stroker pistons. Mathematically my piston is .66mm below the deck, but after mock assembly they are at .54mm below the deck. This ...

Re: Ej22T stroker questions.

My 2 cents,

Those pistons are designed for a phase one crank/rods. I believe the phase one 2.5 cranks had 48mm rod journals vs phase 2 2.5 cranks have 52mm. Now, I don't know if the rod journal size changes the total length over a 48mm journal/5.181, and a 52mm journal/5.181.
