Re: Diamond Coil Pack -need some concrete info-

My 1993 AWD 5MT N/A Wagon has a Diamond pack on it. I have absolutely no reason to believe either of the previous owners had the coil pack replaced. Is this an anomaly? Or is it more likely the pack was replaced at some point and this is what the dealer provided? --Andy All manual trannies got the ...

Re: GRRRRRRR!!! Nephew jumped the '90 legacy!!!! I'm gonna

Son of a gun, that really sucks. Although I have to admit I jumped our first Legacy within 48 hours of purchasing it. And I was 37 years old.  (The jump was kind of an accident, but still...) I ended up mashing the pan and pickup, as well as bending both front struts. Luckily the repair b...

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

Haha, thanks! The paint is just Lowe's rattle-cans, this was the only shade of pink they had. "Tulip Pink" It turns out I have to add a little more to the cage; there just isn't enough space between the "harness bar" and the seats to properly mount the shoulder harnesses. I...

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

The Cage looks good, but caging a DD is pretty stupid, as is using super cheap seats that are gonna disintegrate in a crash. ...Right...The cage is more than far enough away from my unhelmeted head, and I'm 6'2". And how are the seats going to "disentegrate in a crash"? They're bolte...

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

Awright, I got some more to share... I soon found out that the stock seats had to go-they just didn't sit low enough to keep the bars comfortably away from an un-helmeted head. So in preparation, I welded up some flat-ass seat brackets and bolted them to the factory holes. http://i300.photobucket.co...

Re: Questons about tuning with Jecs maf

No offense, but this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. You need to tune the MAF to YOUR car, and since every car's different, it doesn't really work to have someone online tell you what values to put in each field on your map. Since you stated you know nothing about tuning, go pay someone to...

Re: IAT Placement - EJ20H manifold, where?

I think IAT's are supposed to be Pre-TB. The one on my 98' was mounted about 3-4 inches in front of the TB in the IC piping. I agree, that's the best way by far. Placing it in the manifold will make it harder to get a temp reading of the actual air entering the motor, as the temp of the manifold it...

That's what I thought, the plates look just like mine. You must have seen the same article in Miller's website.

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

Those are definitely not rally door bars. Looking good, though. Can't wait to see it all gusseted and painted. BTW, I think your prices are a little low. The DI is a great resource and community. No, not rally door bars at all, and thanks again. This car's going back to being my friend's daily comm...

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

That's looking kickass! I want one in my car...What does it cost to have one of these put in and how many hours of work would it be? Thanks Kimo, come and get one installed! The price range for a cage is anywhere from $1200-$2000+, I figure this one is about $1600-ish. They'll take around a week to...

Sorry, I only have one size as of now. I can custom make one in ANY size you want, but it'll be more than $1.50 of course.

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

^^^ I'm not building this car to Rally America specs, now I see what you're talking about. Rally's dead here in CO (it died while I was building the white SS), so this is more as a road-racing cage. And they like the same size tubing all through the cage. Oh yeah, I figured out what DI is...I signed...

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

You might wanna check NASA/RA cage specs (if that is what you're building to) as I'm pretty sure they don't like bent door bars. I also think they only require 1.5" for anything other than the main hoop structure. There's a lot of good info on cage building over on the DI. This cage is being b...

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

I wasn't sure how the door bars were going to turn out. As a matter of fact, I'm still not 100% sure...but I got the lower bars done on both sides. I kicked them out 3 inches for seat clearance, and as luck would have it, the door panels still clear after removing the pockets. http://i300.photobucke...

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

Here's how I wanted to run a second diagonal, from the main hoop's passenger side to the bottom of the driver's side rear support. This way, it'll also triangulate the crap out of the rear of the car, and still give more rollover protection for a passenger. I may also run another bar straight across...

The economy is pretty good here in CO, I'm not going anywhere soon. 8) I recently visited the PNW for the first time this spring, and it's my second favorite area now. Colorado being the first.

I'm making the harness bar now, I'll have more pics in a bit!

Re: BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

To be honest, I wouldn't build a cage with a 110v welder anyway. I tried welding a stock-car cage together years ago with a Lincoln/Blue-Point 110v MIG, and the weld penetration was, well, not good enough to be certain it would save your life someday. ;-) I borrowed a big Hobart to re-do/finish that...

BC/BJ Legacy Roll Cage Build!

For some reason, I recently decided it would be fun to build roll cages for race cars and Jeeps. I have several vehicles lined up, but the first one is one of the SLODRIVE cars...Rob's 1993 Legacy L AWD. Although this cage will be fully NASA/SCCA legal, the car is going back on the streets for a whi...
