The arrows are used to determine #1 TDC. When they line up with the marks on the timing cover. If you use the arrow on the front face of the crank timing pulley and the arrows on the cam pulleys, you are fine. But you should use the notches instead. The little mark on the back side of the crank pull...

The wrx has better flowing heads but, a weaker block.
To use the wrx heads or engine with your stock ecu, you will need to at least modify the cam gears.

It is Much easier to do a ej20g swap.

I would recomend the loctite, and make it red. They have been known to fall out. And you dont want to be losing oil pressure, especially there at the mains.

WTB: CHEAP Engine Harness, I dont really need one.

I need a 3 plug ej20g engine harness. It uses the same plugs as a 91 EJ22t harness.

Thanks,
Ben

What part of the hub did you move to get the axle out? My mechanic undid one of the control arm bolts so that he could rotate the hub to get at the axle. Alternativly, you can remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the lower ball joint. Pull it loose. Then you can usually pull the spindle out fa...

depending on how much boost, you may want to run a smaller gap.

Oh, and if you dont have an impact wrench, you will want to loosen the axle nut while the tire is on the ground.

The only "special" tools you might need is a large socket for the axle nut(They differ in size with different manufacturers), and something to drive the roll pin out of the inner(transmission side) part of the axle. Other than that a 19mm socket and end wrench should do it. Remember to mar...

TopLine EJ22t Piston Rings

New in Box. I have used these in the past with no problems. I can not tell any visual difference from OEM. I paid over $60. I would like to get about $40. I bought these and then started losing sleep over the scoring in the cylinders. So Im going oversized. Wiseco :D I opened the box and checked the...

Are those EJ22t heads? If so what year?
I ask because the EJ22t heads I took off have different coolant passages.

Ej22t on left. Ej25d on right.
You see that the coolant passages match.

I ran 15psi with no problems or detonation with a completely stock AWIC setup.

This was with a VF8. Remember, if you use a smaller turbo, you may be making alot more heat at higher boost levels.

The Phase One 2.2 was updated in 97. Some people call this the begining of the Phase Two 2.2. In 97 it got different pistons(9.7 to 1) and solid lifters. But Phase Two Came in 99, with the same changes the 2.5 got. With thrust bearing, roller rockers, ect... And Yes, I believe the 2.0, 2.2 have 52mm...

Josh, we should compare 97 Outbacks sometime.

So are you saying your pistons are 2mm below the deck? That must be crazy low compresion.

I have considered running thin HG, but with a JDM ecu plus a VOS chip, I am afraid of det.

If it has a single turbo and a AWIC it is from a Pre 94' JDM(or almost anywhere besides the US) Legacy.
If the ECU has 4 yeallow plugs, the "1996" is a typo

The fact remains that with stock EM, I think it would be better to run lower static compression and then compensate with more boost. And I dont believe that the "flow" of the head has much of an effect on the dynamic compression. But rather cam timing. Just some thoughts. Also, (Random Com...

As for getting pistons, you need to post what size bores you have.
They are stamped on the top of the block.
A,B or C.
There will be two letters on each block half.
Like this.
This block has all b's
