Hi Larry,

No worries on the belated reply. I guess just let us know your impressions once you get the braces installed.

Re: Both passenger windows stopped working

Hi Max and welcome! All the windows and wiring go through the main driver switch. So if the driver window switch is removed none of the windows work. I would suggest tracing the wiring and testing the motor of each passenger side window to make sure the motor works and then start working backwards i...

I received your PM.

It stays in your outbox until the recipient opens the PM. It sounds like everything is working properly.

Re: Code 45 - Fuel Cut

On the turbo cars, code 45 is the pressure sensor and pressure exchange solenoid valve. I would suggest checking all the vacuum lines and the pressure exchange solenoid to ensure it's functioning properly. If you do all that and are still having issues then I'd suggest checking the wiring of the pre...

Re: 6speed swap to Legacy 1gen

Hello, As I understand it, the 6spd in the newer Legacy utilizes a similar sized case as the existing 5spd transmission vs. the 6spd with the DCCD in the STi. Either way, it should be able to be swapped in but you will need to make some modifications. I'll point you to mine and John's 6spd swap thre...

Re: Engine oil leak?

If you can get a hold of some degreaser and a pressure washer that would be the best thing to do first. Get the engine cleaned up a little bit which should help you pin point where the leak is.

Re: New Scam on Car sales?

Regarding the email, you can usually try and find the originating IP address and that will tell you where they're located or at least the server.

Yeah....I wouldn't deal with any of that. If it "smells" fishy, it likely is.

Re: New Scam on Car sales?

Dave,

Carfax is probably the best VIN report that I've seen. What site(s) are they referring you to? It sounds very fishy.

If you share the sites I can check them out.

Re: Something smoked and now 1993 turbo wagon wont run.....

When you have the ECU in, and have the key in the ON position (engine not running) does the CEL come on? If not, then the ECU is not getting power or is fried. Verify you're getting power to the ECU and the ECU is actually turning on. If it's got power and no CEL then I'd lean towards a smoked ECU.

The shield should be grounded to the sensor ground pin/input on the ECU and no where else.

Re: Legacy Sport (sedan) is Back!

Yeah, the DI helps with the tuning. I can tell you I haven't had any detonation or issues with running 87 octane on my Outback XT. I'm sure with some tuning and premium fuel I could pick up some more power if I wanted to mess with it.

Re: Cannot fix my 92 turbo codes

Welcome to the BBS. These cars with the OBD1 ECU's are not the smartest so sometimes the CEL being on can actually cause a drivability issue or be more a nuisance. Forget the CEL, how does the car drive? Do you have any drivability issues or poor engine running/performance? You can check/clear the c...

Re: Legacy Sport (sedan) is Back!

Yeah....it's kind of boring looking....looks like every other Honda or Toyota similar sedan. The interior looks pretty much the same as my 2020 Outback. If I was in the market for a new sedan....it would probably be worth considering if you want AWD. However, that motor/transmission combo isn't slow...

I could have sworn there was another auto manufacture that made these bypass valves in metal. I couldn't find any info with a quick search, but depending if you can find one of these you may want to do some searching.
