Re: The SLODRIVE '92 SS Build (warning: UGLY pics!)
I'm back for an update! First, the status update...this motor's been fantastic for the last several seasons of driving. Plenty of power at 16-ish psi, 90+ lbs. of oil pressure cold, and 21-25 mpg with my foot on the floor - a lot. And then last weekend, 5th gear apparently shit out its synchro...it ...

ALL, and I mean ALL U.S. market STi's came with 2.5l engines. The only 2.0 turbo motor Subaru sold here was in the WRX's.

Dude, PLEASE don't jack your Legacy up (figuratively and literally) with big 'n' little tires! Your idea would "technically" work, to be honest, but you'll throw off the whole balance of the car and negatively affect braking and handling. Plus it'll just look silly, y'know? Just go ...

WTB CO: Turbo 5-Speed Transmission
Yep. It looks like my transmission lost 5th gear at only 297,000 miles. I'll take it apart and fix it if I have to, but I'd rather pick up a working unit if there's one around for the right price. Lemme know!

Re: Problem Help Please
We pulled the spark plugs and they were clean. Pulled the plug wires out of the coil and cranked it over, we got a weak yellow signal on all of the wires. That's all I tested and I changed the oil, air filter, put a catted dp on. I looked over all my vac lines and they look all perfect there not ha...

Re: Teaser pic of the rally car.
??? They are at equal height with my shoulders... They are & they aren't. Although they wrap around a bar that's at shoulder height, the fact that they're actually mounted near the floor leaves a lot of dangerous slack, and allows for more belt stretch than you would want in a wreck. If you can...

Re: Problem Help Please
DON'T bother going for the repair waiver. A Turbo Legacy, even a modded one, should pass emissions with little trouble if it's running properly, which it sounds like it isn't. Our TW with 180,000 on the odo passed easily, and the modded SS fared even better - and this is in CO. You said the plugs an...

Re: Need Help, ASAP! NEW TPS install
I always found the TPS specification, and in fact MOST automotive resistance specs, to be more of a guideline than anything concrete. I prefer to compare readings to a known good unit whenver possible. Honestly, your specs are more than close enough to be satisfactory, and don't forget that ambient ...

Re: Teaser pic of the rally car.
Your cage looks awesome. I might be building a rally cage later this season, we'll see.
I gotta say though - Your shoulder harness mounts are pretty scary, the mounts are waaaaaay too far down . Other than that, everything looks really good! Great score on the 6MT too!

Re: Which oil?
If he doesn't have an oil gauge he can watch the temperature of the engine. If its stock it has an engine coolant gauge. If the oil gets too hot it will thin out and not hold the same lubricity factors it once had. Which will cause the engine to overheat. No offense, but where are you getting your ...

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the support! Congrats! What did you do before opening up your own shop? I've spent almost my whole adult life working in parts stores and garages...in fact, my last "real" job was at a local dyno shop. I also built my own circle-track car about 8 years ago,...

Re: Which oil?
So you woudent run a 40or50weight oil in 115-120degree weather? Hmm ive always thought you would wabt to run a higher # due to the heat and it being a turbo car? Nope. I run 5w-30 in 100+ degree heat in the turbo Legacies, Rob's built STi, and my GTO, none of which are babied. In fact, the white SS...

So I opened my own shop...
Things have kinda gotten away from me in the last few weeks, here's what happened... It all started last month, when I decided to cage my buddy's Legacy and see if it got any interest towards someday building a cage or two for someone else. --> Link http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn24/drivefastg...

Re: Which oil?
Don't believe the hype about thicker oil, all it'll do is waste power and give you a longer "dry start" period upon startup. (as in, increased engine wear) I've been running 5w-30 in all 6 Legacies around me, most of which have well over 200k on the odo, and include N/A and turbo cars. The...

Hmmm so SLODRIVE you have your leggy running with a 20G ECU and the AEM F/IC. Very nice! Did you run this AEM F/IC with the stock EJ22T ecu ever?
