DIY RHD Power Steering Lines

Ok, so there are a few threads around that serve as a walk through to make your own power steering lines, however none of them are RHD specific. Figured I would write this up so people can avoid buying the wrong shit three times like I did. This is the thread I originally found, which has a ton of g...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Ok, the new parts came and shocker, I was wrong again! Then I went to a local store, three times, and was finally able to get everything together properly! My power steering works! https://i.imgur.com/kDLmNBCl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oTAeHzDl.jpg Still super messy, but I will get it all cleaned up a...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

The parts for my power steering lines came. Looks like I did not consider the differences in RHD vs LHD when I got together the parts. On my car the lines from the pump go directly to the rack, whereas on a LHD car the lines first go to a junction of sorts on the right side of rack, then hard lines ...

I dig it! I haven't handled the exhaust issue yet, so I haven't been driving it much. I also desperately need to get my power steering connected and working. Other than that it has been very nice!

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Josh was right of course, the timing had skipped a tooth. Fixed and car fired right up. I spent most of the day yesterday driving around town:

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Yessir, getting a nice spark and plenty of fuel. Going to check compression next. On a side note, I posted this on my Instagram the other day and my internet friend Tyson sent me a message with a link to one for sale on yahoo japan! Even though there are probably plenty of other things I should have...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Updates: My friend looked over the car and checked everything out, it seems like there was just a lot of build up on the headers and that was just burning off, so that is where the smoke was coming from. So he said it was good to go, I went over there to pick it up and now the car wont start again. ...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Updates: I took the car to a friends house to replace the pan, which was successful and also a pain in the ass. We also did a slew of other little things that needed to get done. Attached GD wrx sway bar, bled brakes, finally put the pins in the axles, and attempted to get power steering installed b...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

I’m honestly not sure. It seems pretty unlikely that it just happened out of nowhere but there is no visible damage to the pan, and the spot where it is leaking is on the side, so I can’t imagine something making contact. Also, the car was never driven with this motor in it.

It’s a mystery

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

So over the last few weeks I have noticed an increasing amount of oil present on the ground under the car, but have been unable to find where its coming from. Yesterday I spent some time under the car cleaning all the gunk off the bottom of the motor and I have located the problem, there is a pinhol...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

I'm not sure how that turndown pipe is going to take care of your exhaust issue. It's still going to be an open header more or less. It won't really I guess, but it will make it at least exiting somewhere other than directly into the bottom of my hood haha. Thanks for the scans. I am going to work ...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

IT IS ALIVE!!

I soldered the connections for the crank position sensor and tucked it all away nicely. Wire brushed the plugs before I put them back in, and boom it started up on the first turn of the key.

I am still throwing a CEL, code 42.

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

After I put the motor in the car I got brand new plugs and wires. I didnt check for that but I will tomorrow. I drained about six gallons maybe, then put another six gallons in. Yes the needle bounces now that I fixed the sensors. :) I haven't checked the coil pack or ignitor beyond making sure ever...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Update. Took plugs out, they are soaked in gas from trying to start it so much on Sunday I guess. The weird thing is the plugs still smell like bad gas. I have already drained the tank twice using the fuel pump. Am I going to need to remove tank and lines to clean properly? Also, a friend of mine po...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

So frustrated with this car right now. I wired the crank sensor using an XLR microphone cable from microcenter. It was $14 for 25 feet. https://i.imgur.com/oxDenBxm.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QrCS4D4m.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rL4wxOVm.jpg This did not change the no start situation. However it did clear ...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Ugh. On Sunday I started the car, first turn of the key, drove it out of the garage and turned it off. Cleaned out the garage and two hours later it would not start again. I didnt touch anything on the car while it was out of garage, but something has stopped working. I investigated the items I wire...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Ok gentleman! I finally was able to remove the old tie rod and replace with the help of a friend, so both sides are now connected to the knuckles and straightened up with a hillbilly alignment. Also, was able to back the car from the driveway into the garage! It drives!! Idle is too high, at 2k rpm'...

Re: Joe's 93 RHD Legacy Wagon Build

Yesterday with the help of Josh I was able to wire my reverse lights and neutral switch. My list of things to do has dwindled down to almost nothing. As of now the only things keeping me from driving is the tie rod end that I cant break loose and having a piece of exhaust fabbed, although I could dr...

New vs Old. I was able to find a brand new one for the driver side, but have had no such luck for the passenger side.
