If the HCs are up due to oil burn, a fresh oil change might help, I know my old car always take longer to burn off that first quart after a change. Maybe a heavier grade oil like a 20-50 too.

BTW the "chain" I was talking about is the type use in many typical 4X4 transfer cases. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/All_talk/Subaru/chaincase1.gif Drive shaft would likely be best on the drivers side due to the oil filter location, but a remote filter could be used. it would go ...

I also have had some thoughts along these lines, I’ve even started some preliminary drawings. My setup would likely use a custom machined transfer case to replace the tail housing on the Subie trans with a “silent chain” transfer drive. First question, Auto or 5 speed? In the Subaru the two AWD syst...

... European headlights are a huuuuuuuuuge improvement over stock 90-91 North American headlights. They're better than 92-94 North American headlights, but not by nearly as much. 92-94 North American lights are actually about as good as they were allowed to be at the time. Moreover, 92-94 North Ame...

Based on what he is looking do accomplish, I think a set of EDM headlights is the real fix. I have both fogs and driving lights, they both served there purposes with the stock headlights and they did help quite a bit. But, now that I’ve made the switch to the EDMs I really don’t need them. About the cams, I don’t have my EJ22T stroker running yet so this info is not personally confirmed, but I have read several accounts that indicate the that USDM EJ25 DOHC cams are excellent for a low to mid RPM power band (this is my goal, daily driven street car). If you are looking for max power o...

'97 to '99 EJ25 DOHC heads are a good option, 46cc chambers and more quench area than the EJ20Gs (not sure about the Ks). Left to right: EJ22T, EJ20G, EJ25 Phase 1 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/All_talk/Subaru/3headstop.jpg Note: the '96 EJ25 DOHC heads have the large chamber (57cc) and can...

I cant get mine to lock by pulling either. I think the lock up works on g-force at the spool. I can get both the lap and shoulder to lock with a good stab of the brake, and my car pulls hard enough now that I can get the shoulder belt to lock on acceleration.

I had a similar issue with a “whoosh” noise. Turns out I had blown a hose off my Y-pipe under my IC. The pipe was held in position up against the hose with enough force so that it only pushed off and leaked at high boost and when the throttle plate slammed shut, it was working like a “pop off” BOV. ...

From the look of it I’d guess its just a temp switch, but it could be a valve to control line pressure. My Suburban has the variable assist PS and it has a duty solenoid that regulates the pressure.

With no cat and no resonator it will be raspy... Don't ask me how I know :? Yep, typically a resonator is near the mid point of the exhaust length, having an expansion point there helps absorb and reflect the frequencies with shorter wave lengths (higher tones). There can be a lot of science in the...

There are HLA EJ25 heads, they come from the '96. The cams still ride right over the buckets (no followers like the 20G), but the buckets have a HLA built into them. You can spot them from the outside by the valve covers. EJ20G http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/All_talk/Subaru/EJTimingPulley007...

Refinishing my wheels, looking for feed back

I’m refinishing the Prodrive P1 wheels I bought (PO panted them a very ugly green). My first thought was silver cause the stock alloys and my silver WRX wheels look very good on the car. But I wouldn’t mind a little more drama with the wheels, so I’m thinking darker center with a silver lip. Check t...

My WRX clutch has a fairly hard peddle feel, I'm not sure how it compares to the stock turbo clutch as mine was shot when I bought the car. Mine will shutter when its cold if you aren’t careful with the peddle, once you get some heat into it, it smoothes out.
