Re: Your Fuel ECON
NA 2.2 with CAI and opened up exhaust with UEL headers, stock ecu and engine management, I get 23-25 towing, which is a huge improvement over stock, in general mixed city highway driving it varies between 25ish if I am running it hard to about 30 if I am being very conservative. On a longish road t...

Re: EJ22D=153awhp. N/A. With room for more.
That's a very impressive n/a torque curve. From where do you source the EJ20D heads? I announced building the project on my FB and a friend responded with an engine he had planned to use. He, neither anyone else, could identify it. At first, I thought it was a full EJ20D from port size, but then he...

knock sensor desensitization for forged pistons?
I was looking for some info for my OTHER project car, my 09 wrx, and ran across something interesting on the COBB website. They were talking about tuning engines that had been built with forged parts for durability and the fact that the stock detonation detection system is fairly aggressive. So they...

Upgraded shift bushings for 91 leggy wagon NA HELP
Ok, multiple engine R&Rs and two transmission R&Rs have trashed the year old shift bushings in my wagon...dang it. So rather than put stock back in...is there an upgraded bushing set available without having to change linkage? If so, where? If not, who makes the best OEM style bushing set? G...

Re: New Engine...need a new clutch...help me pick
ok Mike, nice idea in principle, but I am trying to stay with the cable operated clutch and not make the change to hydraulic...if I am not mistaken, arent all the wrx clutches hydraulic and they become the push type instead of the pull type like the cable type is?

New Engine...need a new clutch...help me pick
Ok, some of you may be following the project wrxish as it progresses. I have just taken delivery of the second engine within a year after the first one developed a rod knock after about 6k miles. This new powerplant has some serious beans and the 6000 mile clutch cant hold the new engine. Normally a...

Re: speed adjuster
I'd concur with the tire size change if you're super-anal. There's online calculators that will tell you how high or low a certain tire size will make it. But 5mph is within normal error margin anyways, unless you live somewhere like Virginia where tickets for 2mph over are common. I live in va and...

Re: minimalist brake upgrade
I am trying to upgrade rotor size only and keep the single piston calipers...better braking without spending a fortune. So my intent is to use the larger SS rotors with the standard single piston caliper and the pads that match the standard caliper. Will that work?

Re: Larger Wheel and Tire Fitment thread
The thread that will never die....I did a size increase on the 16x7.5 53mm offset rims I got from tire rack by mounting up 225 50s sumitomo all seasons on them and have created maybe the best combo I have tried yet. All 4 fender lips have to be rolled tightly for clearance and even with that it rubs...

minimalist brake upgrade
As near as I caninterpret what I have read, going from the standard l wagon 10.2 inch rotors to the 10.9 inch rotors used on the ss wagon is a matter of changing caliper mounting brackets on the front and reusing the standard calipers and the rear stays the same. Could someone who really knows weigh...

Re: acceptable tire size range
I just changed to 225 50 16s on the 91 wagon and have major clearance issues in the rear....major fender lip rolling required and im also running coilovers. Inside clearance ok outside not enough with the 53mm offset wheels 7.5 inches wide

Thanks josh, picked up fwb at dealer today. 65 bucks roughly. Did not buy hub there, that was 150 for Subie brand part. Wonder how much of a press is needed to press bearing into place. Any idea?

If you do some searching, there's an early 90's Honda application that works almost perfectly in the firstgen Legacy. There aren't any direct-fit parts. Thanks for the info Alphius, I will look around and see what I can find...I am also considering trashing the ashtray and mounting the gauges there...

Re:
The wheels should fit just fine. What size tire are you planning to run? The stock WRX tire 205/55 r16 is a tad tall and may rub on the spring perch. 205/50-16 will work well and give u some shorter gearing as well...its a really good combo. no clearance issues with H&R springs, approx 1" ...

Re: ej22 to ej25d swap...not as easy as it looks
Its time to kick this thread again...as the sorting process continues. I have a fairly decent running engine now, the IACV seems to be happy where it is and how it is. The engine starts from dead cold revs immediately up to about 2000 then settles over a few seconds to just over 1000 rpm. Once warme...
