Re: The "i want one" list
Holy sh*t, look at those rims... what, 19s that look like the originals?!?
A friend of mine in the USAF had a factory Turbo Firebird, roughly the same vintage. That thing was the scariest ride I've ever been in.

Is this still OBD-I? Might be fun to put this into my wagon... along with a 5MT, of course.

Re: Wiring City lights...
Well, it's not quite that simple, you need to know which wire is the turn signal and which is the marker light. No access to schematics right now, sorry... If you have a Haynes manual it's got a reasonably correct set of wiring diagrams, otherwise maybe Josh has them up on his site.

Re: What are the biggest tires I can put on my 90 n/a
I personally love the BFG AT, I have them on my Syncro in 235/75-15s, and I had them on my 4-Runner. Lots of Vanagon guys are running the 14" on the stock rims... Very tough sidewalls and they wear like iron, 50K is not unusual with proper rotation. They're great in sand & snow, but mud per...

Re: Hi all! Legacy from Uruguay!!! Help me sporting it!!!
The rims on the wagon in that pic are 16", I have since changed to LGT 16" "snowflakes" Just about all factory alloy 5x100 rims are at least 16" from Legacy GT '96 or '97 and later, except the Outbacks which used 15s (the original Turbo rims) for a few more years. The newest...

Re: Hi all! Legacy from Uruguay!!! Help me sporting it!!!
Bienvenidos! Lots of us are using later rims... Legacy GT, WRX, just about everything fits. Did you guys get the WRX there? If you need parts, post a want-ad here, even with shipping it will be cheaper... nobody here goes to the Subaru dealer unless they absolutely have to. Here's my wagon with '02 ...

Re: Newb Owner
Yeah, I'd say a CV joint from reading this... unless it's going into torque-bind, but you'll really know it when that happens, the whole car hops up and down. That would be a trans replacement. Put a 10A fuse in the small black box marked FWD on the firewall by the wiper motor, and drive it again......

Re: I need a few parts and have a few questions
OK, now you're getting somewhere! :) You can use the whole WRX/STI front turbo exhaust setup if you change out the front crossmember to one from a factory turbo car... someone's selling one here, check the want ads. It has the cutout to clear the up-pipe. There's one on Ebay too. CROSSMEMBER LINK Th...

Re: I need a few parts and have a few questions
Alex, I'm gonna be blunt here; If your goal is to go faster, save your money, sell the L (or part it out) and buy a turbo Legacy to start with... You'll spend WAY more than your car is worth trying to tune a normally aspirated 2.2 Subaru and you still won't be happy with it. These are not WRXs, they...

Re: My 93 SS (ELECTRICAL GREMLINS ARE HARD TO FIX)
Yeah, I second the grounding, ECUs will freak out without good grounds on everything... all sorts of weird problems crop up. Look at the fusible links as well, the big green fuses in the engine compartment box, I had one crack, and it drove me crazy for a week tracking it down... it would test good ...
Re: 2.5 HGs
If you can see a real bad spot on a fiber headgasket, the car probably wouldn't be running too well, steaming at the tail pipe, trying to hydro-lock, oil turning to latte, etc. The symptoms you describe are a blown head gasket, you're on the right track, don't worry. The head bolts, I'm not sure... ...

Re: In a Pickle.....
Yep, these locations are utterly typical for these cars. The only one that would be difficult to fix is the bottom of the wheel arch/rockerpanel elbow, it's complicated in there. The problem I have with bodywork is that the damn rust almost always comes back, no matter how careful you are, particula...

Re: In a Pickle.....
If you've got a place and the inclination to do the work, I would look for another Legacy with a good body, and do a shell swap. Doesn't have to be a turbo. I see them here now and then, and there's thousands of drivers floating around in good shape.

I have the same thing, but it's white, no other plug in sight or in range... My chime works, nothing else is inop. Don't worry about it, probably for the optional CD player or something.
