Re: WTB running legacy turbo wagon

I have a nice, 5MT wagon that I know was on the market recently. I'll be getting more details soon and have you at the top of my list for interested parties. Car is a 93, silver TW with a 5MT swap, GC coilovers, WRX wheels, A/A TMIC, APEX-i AVC-R, and some audio. Located in the San Francisco area. S...

Re: Possibility of sedan image t-shirt?

We've got some renewed interest in designs, the stickers being the big item right now.

I'd love to offer some tees with updated designs in 2015. Stay tuned.

Re: For the first time in...

Nissan doesn't make any appealing 5-door cars, and I'm a pretty die-hard wagon/hatch fan. Looked at the Mazda 6 wagon, but it's only got that awful 3L Duratec Ford engine, which is junk, though it was paired with a 5MT. Also (very) briefly mulled a Mazda 3, but I think it's got a bit too much engine...

Re: For the first time in...

It was formerly a Michigan car, lots of freeway miles, so I got it with 124K. I like the first-gen Fit also, but the just slightly larger GE8 suits me better, especially with the styling. However, the new 2015 is a bit overboard IMO. I got 35.96MPG on my first full tank. The gearing on the 5MT is a ...

Re: For the first time in...

They don't, rear drums. Mostly because this car is soooooooooo light at under 2500lbs.

I also forgot about another feature that all of those other Subarus have had: frameless windows.

Re: For the first time in...

No Saturn, nor a Toyota.

09 Honda Fit Sport 5MT. Light, zippy, great on fuel, and holds a lot more than it should. Drives like a kart, firm suspension, and just enough in the way of amenities that I don't feel like it's an economy car.

For the first time in...

For the first time in 15 years, my car doesn't have the following: Rear disc brakes Boxer engine AWD Rear independent suspension and I'm okay with that. Yes, for the first time since I purchased my original Legacy in 1999, I don't own a Subaru. The 2001 Outback was sold last night, and I was glad to...

Importing a JDM/EDM or non-North American Legacy

I'm going to make this a sticky in the forum, because the Legacy is finally reaching the age in the US that it may be imported (25 years) legally from abroad. The law is different, and shorter, in Canada (15 years). Please add any relevant information for importing a car into Canada or the United St...

Re: Test drives - November 2014

CVTs in the Nissans of the last decade were a bit flaky, but, like the 7-10 speed autos, they're increasingly reliable and clever. The Subaru CVT can emulate gears, has paddle shifters, and like I said, changes personality depending on the situation. The salesperson started out the test drive and re...

Test drives - November 2014

While waiting for a credit union to approve the loan for the buyer of my XT, we stopped at the local Subaru dealer and poked around. They had a sparse selection of used cars, and anything I'd be interested in was either sold or just not there. After some chatting with a reasonably nice sales rep, I ...

Re: DLC's 2005 OB XT LTD

They're like hen's teeth. I searched Autotrader and found two of the BP 5MT Legacy in a non-base trim, nationally.

I've got my eye on an 03 BH GT 5MT now, a one-owner. It's less than 600 miles away too.

Anyone live in Colorado Springs or know anyone who could go give it a once-over for me?

Re: DLC's 2005 OB XT LTD

If I could find an 05-06 BP 5MT locally, even if it was overpriced, I would love to take it out for a good test drive. They are very uncommon, and might be why Subaru dropped the wagon style from the Legacy range entirely for the Outback.

Re: DLC's 2005 OB XT LTD

As preposterous as this sounds, even to me, I sold the XT today.

To it's credit, the car was awesome, and I am going to miss it, but I know that I prefer a manual transmission, lower ride height, and possibly, no turbo.

Here's to the next Legacy.

Re: DLC's 2005 OB XT LTD

Whew! Found a little puddle of coolant which had found a place to hide, on the block, right in front of the intake manifold. This does much to explain the coolant smell on starting. I can rest easier about the head gaskets being done properly.

Re: DLC's 2005 OB XT LTD

Bar's 1040 is the seal conditioner I am looking to use for the oil leak. Sounds like it's not a patching type, rather something which renews the seals themselves. More worried about the Holt/Subaru coolant conditioner for that reason. I have used 15w-40 in my Subarus, as recommended by several Subie...

Re: DLC's 2005 OB XT LTD

It's a straight-line rocket, but the struts are as bad as I've ever experienced. Probably not going to drop it, but it's high on my list of to-dos. I am also surprised that the XT uses the 01-04 Legacy GT/Outback/WRX brake sizes on the front, but that its rear brakes are _smaller_ than those Legacy ...

Oh, and I forgot to mention this :

My seventh Legacy now, never having owned the same chassis code.

BC, BJ, BE, BK, BG, BH, and BP.

I have also only owned the same set of Subaru OE wheels once, the 99 RS silver five-spokes.

DLC's 2005 OB XT LTD

The daily for the last 18 months has been a drag. Sorry to all those Outback EJ251 4EAT owners out there but... I found a deal on this (maybe too good to be true, we'll see) and it's almost exactly what I wanted. 5MT would have appeased the go-fast part of me, but the 5EAT with wheel-mounted suggest...

Lovely BL. Lots of nice parts. Unlimited is how I would have gone, but the BP instead. Too bad the market is still very strong for those rare birds.

Re: Rotating Pictures - New Style

Four new images added: those three posted after Dominator's, and one who had emailed me rather a long time ago.

It's not the "doing it" part that takes so long, it's that the requests come infrequently and it takes a few minutes to recall how I go about doing it, which comes back quickly.
