Re: Safe to run 87 Octane at wastegate pressure?
Anybody with experience running water / methanol injection want to chip in? Am I totally off the wall in my thinking here?

Re: Safe to run 87 Octane at wastegate pressure?
From what I understand, 1 gallon lasts a good bit, and you can get one gallon of the 50/50 windshield washer fluid for less than $2.00. (I'm not sure about this price. The cheap stuff is like 30% Methanol.) Other people's experience running Water Meth injection say that one gallon lasts about 3 tank...

Re: Safe to run 87 Octane at wastegate pressure?
So even at low boost and low compression 87 octane pump gas is a no go. How about with water meth injection? I've read that 93 octane pump gas + water methanol injection allows people to run tunes that make more power than they can with 116 race gas.

Re: Safe to run 87 Octane at wastegate pressure?
To be clear, this is not something I'm doing. I plan on adding a water/meth injection kit, and in doing the research I discovered the Snow Performance Wastegate Solenoid, which allows you to use a Water Meth failsafe device to bring your boost all the way down to wastegate pressure if you run out of...

Discussion about running Water Methanol injection safely.
I'm looking for a general concensus on this. Would it be safe to run 87 octane at strictly wastegate pressure? For our cars, this is 6 psi, with the factory VF11 correct? With most other bigger VF turbos the wastegate pressure is 7. What do you think? Please, everybody who sees this, please answer a...

Legacy FIA 100,000 KM World Speed Endurance Record
I thought I'd post this link as a public service to our community. I don't know if anybody has posted it yet, but if anybody has any more info to post about this record, I'd appreciate it if it was posted in this thread. I would like to buy a book and/or a video documenting this historic effort. So ...

Re: Need suggestions on "coffee cup mod"
smaller outlet goes to the purge system and isn't really necessary. the bigger one goes to the pcv system and that one i wouldnt mess with too much, i would try to use that same size or as close as you can get. On the original intake silencer, three hoses come out of it. The big one goes to PCV. Th...

Need suggestions on intake piping.
I have toyed with several ideas for coffee cup mod on intake. The easiest I came up with, however, is a stainless silicone hose joiner with three ports on it that allow you to install a 90 degree hose barb. I have a doubt about it, however. The three ports are 1/8"-27 NPT female threaded holes....

Trying to find a source for a PE1818 compressor wheel
Compressor Specifications: Compressor Wheel Blades: 6+6 Compressor Wheel Inducer: 52.5mm Compressor Wheel Exducer: 70.0mm Does anybody know of a good source? This is in an IHI type housing, and so the shaft is IHI. It was said that the compressor wheel originally belonged to a GM diesel turbo. Deadb...

Re: Opinions on fitment of 02-07 turboback.
The lengthenig of the mid pipe is due to our cars having a longer wheelbase, not because of he difference in down pipe length. Using an 02-07 cat-back on a stock down pipe requires a small additional length to join the two on top of what's normally needed for the full turbo back. I decided to post ...

Re: MadDad dp fit?
This is an OLD thread. I'd like to revive it, because I'd like to know the answer. Let me add a different twist to the question. Can anybody tell us if a full length 2004 - 2007 Subaru WRX downpipe fits the first generation Legacy SS or Turbo Wagon with Manual Transmission and also with Automatic Tr...

Re: Save it or kill it?
I would love the air to water intercooler as well. However, if I were you, and I had the funds to get the work done, I would rebuild the trans and re-do the headgaskets. I would also perform the compression and leak-down test to see the overall condition of the engine.

Since this is the most comprehensive thread I know of regarding Air to Water Intercoolers, especially for 1st generation Legacies, this is where I'll post my question about just that. I know that it has been discussed here how adding a heat exchanger to this system requires getting rid of the Air Co...

Re: TD05 16G or VF34?
Let's throw another turbo into this discussion, if you don't mind. Anybody know anything about the Power Enterprises PE1818? Actual experience? I certainly haven't read everything about them, but I've read a bit. Sounds like TD05 18G like powerband, since it uses an 18G compressor wheel.

Re: 93 Legacy Sport Sedan engine management questions
Anybody know anything about the PE1818 turbo? With the standalone I could swing it, but what about with the Rob Tune? It would flow more at lower boost, more than likely, so I would have to limit peak boost, in order to keep it within spec with the MAF, right? Anybody mess with one of these?

Re: 93 Legacy Sport Sedan engine management questions
So I need to research wastegate pressure on a VF34. Maybe TD05 16G if that's the way I go. What's a good source for wastegate actuators?

Re: 93 Legacy Sport Sedan engine management questions
All that said, I don't want a peaky tune either. I would like power to come on gradually starting at 3000 or so. You can stay below that in traffic if you mind your foot. As soon as I floor it out of a corner, I should be in the power band. Sound about right to everybody?

Re: 93 Legacy Sport Sedan engine management questions
Just spoke with somebody at Top Speed Motorsports in Alpharetta Georgia. They are known to tune the A'pexi Power FC. Apparently, since the part of the fuel map that would most affect fuel economy would be in a different area than the part of the fuel map that would affect peak power, a tune for fuel...

Re: 93 Legacy Sport Sedan engine management questions
So, almost double the mileage on pump gas comparing stock on pump gas to current setup. A better than 10% increase in mileage on E85 as opposed to stock running pump gas.

Re: 93 Legacy Sport Sedan engine management questions
It's basically an OTS tune, though a good one at that. If you use the list of equipment that he specifies, according to all the info I've read from people who have experience with it, it works quite well. It is currently limited by the MAF, which is a JECS green label MAF. Any turbo which would put ...
