If you're having the same BCS problems I am, a MBC will fix the problem perfectly. I have noticed that my low boost mode doesn't seem to be knock related like I thought it was originally. It seems that the BCS will stick, and the only way to fix it is to go to WOT until the air pressure un-sticks th...

I was trying that, but what it was doing was different. It was acting like the car was turned off, there were no values showing up, and pressing enter wouldn't change it.

The hub center is smaller on the Celica than the Legacy, but the aftermarket rims had a large center opening probably because they're a generic aftermarket rim. I always wondered whether or not that was safe, maybe i should get rid of the rims altogether and buy new ones for both cars? I'll have to ...

It seemed to be a fairly significant rubbing, around bends it was nearly constant. I would roll the fenders, but i believe that they are too rusted, so maybe i'll eliminate the part that's rubbing when i fix the rust. I am using 205/55/15 tires on rims that were for my Celica, and the tires do seem ...

New GR-2's and now tires rub??

Hey everyone, i just put new GR-2's in the rear of my Legacy and i'm a little worried. I had 4 people in the car and some fishing gear (not really heavy stuff) and i noticed my tires rubbing the fender wells when i would go around bends and hit bumps. I know the car never did this when the stock str...

I have one that i can just plug in to the cigarette lighter. I don't know if it's a bad ground or just a crappy radio, but whenever the engine's on the CB picks up a lot of interference. I haven't tried it in another car for a while so i don't know if it's the Suby's fault or not.

Ok, sorry for such a long delay, i forgot all about it because i put the car back to stock boost due to gas consumption and to try to save whats left of the clutch. Anyway, the reading would go as low as 9 deg. at WOT, then increase to 13-14. That still seems a little low to me, but i could be wrong...

The last time i looked at it, the timing correction value didn't deviate more than 2 from 0. The ignition timing wasn't steady at 0 deg. but it's not like it was just an error in the ECU or the tool. I could feel the power drop off and then come back on slightly. I'm gonna go hook it up right now an...

You're probably going to notice a decent difference in braking performance from the new calipers, the ones i just put on made a huge difference due to the fact that only one piston on each side was really stopping my car. If your slider pins are in bad shape you should probably replace those as well...

Ignition Timing from vrg3's scan tool and power loss

Hey everyone, i have been having problems with my car lately, it seems to be getting slower and slower and it is eating gas more than it ever did before. The gas issue could maybe be partially attributed to the changeover from winter to summer gas at the pumps, but i highly doubt it. Anyway, the onl...

I was the one who ran the 15.7 at about 14 psi. I hope its just my butt dyno adjusting, but this car seems to get slower and slower. I know with a good clutch and an exhaust i can get the time a little lower, but i still think it should be running better. I am going to rip into the intake piping tom...

Yeah, that doesn't sound like bad bearings at least as i know them. My Celica would click badly whenever the the throttle plate opened slightly, but be fairly quiet when idling.

I was thinking about the rotors, but they weren't warped at all, and seemed to be in pretty good shape. It probably would have been a good idea, if the pads start to wear oddly they're the next thing on the buy list. I'm still trying to get this car back into decent shape, i wish the previous owner ...

From the pictures it seems as though the metal isn't very shiny, is it just the pic, or does it look like that? Rounded metal doesn't sound like something that would be caused by a oil film type bearing (rod, crank bearing), it is usually jagged and "flaky" in appearance. You would probabl...

I should add to vrg3's statement about pulling to either side when stopping with calipers that have stuck sliders. My car didn't pull to one side at all when they were bad, the overall braking performance was just sub par. I would definately try to remove the pads to see whether or not your calipers...

WOW. I just got the new calipers and pads on the car. This is probably the best thing i have done to the car so far. The slider pins on both of the calipers were frozen, causing the pads to wear unevenly and giving me poor braking. I have no more complaints about the brakes, and if anyone thinks the...

Well, the brakes finally kicked the bucket. Now the driver side cannot move more than a mile without smoking. I am going to pick up some reman. calipers on Monday and see if new ones make the braking any better. I would love to try to fit the 2.5 RS brakes under the car, and i might do that later in...

Removing frozen front calipers

Hey everyone, i have had my car for over a year now and i have never needed to change the front brakes. Saturday i decided to put new pads on to try to get my car to stop again. To my surprise, i found that the driver side caliper is rusted onto the guide pin, and will not move at all. It is so bad ...

I would give it a try. It doesn't sound like its much different from any other stock clutch. I would personally probably spring for the exedy because of my past experience with them, but either will do fine i would think.

I bought the exedy clutch kit off of ebay for my Celica a few years back and i thought it was a very good OEM clutch. IMO if it is an exedy clutch and you aren't looking to make incredible HP numbers, it is very worth it.

My guess is its the IAC valve, it may be sticking somehow, or, this is really out there, something with the PCV? Maybe the pcv has a leak in it and air is getting through it past the MAF sensor, causing a rich condition and stalling the car. The latter is really out there, but i would check the scan...

I don't know if this is based upon the TPS reading solely, or if it even works for your NA, but on the last screen of the scan tool, right before it goes back to the ROM ID, check to see if your idle switch?? (or something like that, i think its the first one on the list) says "on" when yo...
