Re: Intake manifold questions.

Side-feeds are a PITA but can be removed - intact. Spray some WD-40 around them as you work on them to get 'em out...slow and deliberate.

Re: Intake manifold questions.

You have no CEL, correct? If you do what are the current, today, codes - not those from a week ago>>> not to be an ARSE but online forum posters are notorious for stating 'Yeah, my CEL's been on for a year and it's nothing important', which isn't helpful. :-)

Re: Intake manifold questions.

Unlikely on the swap as those TOP feeds use a different setup vs. the side-feed of the <'99 Subarus....but there may be adapters fit the IM? On the early USDM (US domestic market) WRX they'd leak under the IM where the rubber hoses connect to the hard lines. I'm getting old, but seems that yours are...

"Interesting. Think that ej25d is worth 400$" ?

Mileage, HG done, maintenance history? I paid $200 for heads and IM to put on my 2.2 NA-T..so maybe.

And they're hard(er) to find than 10 years ago for sure.

Re: Intake manifold questions.

The '96 and '97 LSi version/trim had the EJ25D, too. I thought LSi was wagons only but site below shows sedans, too...Hmmm, still learning. :-)

CArs101.com has many of the older models for more info....look for Archives on the left side.

Re: EJ20 Series 1 Timing Kit

Older post, but everything I've read is that the EJ25D kits will work on the EJ20G.

And as the EJ20G is a DOHC interference, the valves can interfere.

There's also a thread on here devoted to the differences. It's ancient but may be useful: viewtopic.php?t=38247

Re: lightweight 14" for a 1990 wagon?

HI, The offset of the wheels will not be different front to back for your model - this is incorrect: "the 90's had 50 upfront and 55 in the back". Unless someone put mis-matched wheels on your car. The 15" wheels will fit, if they're a stock '95 Subaru 5x100 bolt pattern - but the tir...

Re: 1991 Legacy Auto Gearbox problems

Hi, Edit: All the below is based on USA info . I'm not that familiar with Subarus from other countries. The top of the transmission bellhousing will have an ID tag (or should) that starts with TZxxxxxxx. This can be used to Identify the transmission. Like this: http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/files...

Re: Newer (5EAT or CVT) auto trans in 91 SS?

HI, Kind of a tangent, but FWIW, you CAN swap in any 4EAT from '90-'98, based on what I've read and your original TCU/TCM will run it - and it'll plug-in on the bellhousing harness (still might want the TCU w/the Trans). If you didn't know, the '95-'98 2.2 were 4.11 FD ratio; '96-'98 were 4.44 (OB, ...

Turbo Oil Drain on old EJ22E - NA/T

OTHER than tapping the oil pan, I've read about adding an oil drain to the newer Phase 2 SOHC valve covers (VC) and the DOHC VC, but not the older school EJ22E VCs. I got a VC in a parts trade that had a fitting mounted on the side but it hit the valve train when installed. I'm wanting to know if mo...

Re: SVX IAC work on EJ22?

Hi Josh, I usually bypass the coolant lines w/out issue (rarely below 0°F here)- but for the midwest and north of 49° - they may need it. And the piping orientation is kinda/sorta/notsomuch similar to an EJ20G's (straight down)but still looks to be in the 'busy' area near the turbo - BUT would also ...

Complete - with cam gears, valve covers, etc.

$hipping will be likely be the issue - but if anyone in Seattle has a set, I get over there (not as often now) occasionally.

SVX IAC work on EJ22?

The SVX has the right-angled hard line that might work better with a turbo install.

Anyone know if they'll work w/the '90-'98 EJ22/EJ25 ECU?

Interesting that it appears to mount on its side under the TB of the EG33:

..I'm late to this post but for others that may end up here - The Impreza from '93-'95 also had a FWD only option: http://www.cars101.com/impreza_archive93_96.html And with the FWD the FD ratio doesn't matter since it doesn't have to match the rear differential's. In addition to the VIN, the ID TAG ...

Re: Hesitation, limp mode, running like crap.

HI, +1 to what JC recommends. The KS was my issue when I had a limp mode. The KS are known to crack AND their wiring gets brittle after so many years. I saw you replaced it, but I'd double-check it and the wiring. Also, Battery condition? Make 100% sure that there is no corrosion/build-up on the ter...

Re: Emissions trouble (high CO)

Before you install the new MAF, note that the JEC/Autecs GREEN label plastic housing '92+ all used the same MAF (except turbo) thru '99 Legacy, Impreza and '98 Forester ('99 was Legacy OB/GT only). Find another used one. MAF will frequently cause a stall at idle, if (going) bad.

Re: Looking for the right turbo

Late to the thread, but wanted to confirm everything MT stated. I've run them all, too. ...well actually I had a VF24 vs. the VF23, so I lie, but the TD05 is a 'high-RPM' beast. I'd rebuild that VF23 before buying anything else. NASIOC may still be the best place to buy turbos, but I've not been on ...
