Voltage Stabilizer?

What do you guys think about this? Ricer-hype? The reason why I ask is given my experience with Subarus, the alternators in these cars tend to be less than optimal. I'm wondering whether there is a voltage differential WRT engine rpm. *shrug* But then again, doesn't the battery tend to act like a vo...

By chance, what's a city light for?

Dumb question, I know. I would assume that they're used for driving in the city, where you wouldn't really need headlights... but I'm not sure.

Vikash - I rode in a Stage5+ (VF22, 22psi, TurboXS V2 Dogbox. Ridiculously fast car) WRX tonight that had an HID conversion (HID ballast setup in stock housings). Sure as hell threw a TON of light, but I could see how easily it would glare in poor conditions. They were BRIGHT but scattered. No cuto...

I work until 9pm in Rockville. We could meet at the same place if you want, but it'll be cold as shit, so we might want to move inside, lol.
I think I still have your number. I'll give you a call after 9 tonight.

Steve is right. The stock radio is internally amped. Check your connections to make sure that the right wires are tapped into from the harness to the aftermarket radio. Did you hook up the radio while the battery was still connected? If so, you might have blown the fuse to the radio. Check under the...

Tomorrow night? Depending on when I finish up with my parents I should be able to meet ya. There's a tool for the dies. It's a twin-handled piece that the die fits into. Makes for cutting even threads into the metal. I'll show it to you tomorrow. Oh yeah, if we meet up tomorrow, remind me to bring a...

No, they are not compatible. The ecu won't even be able to understand the sensor signals on the black housing MAF.

Thanks for the info, Brat4by4. That's what I thought, which is why I was thinking about upgrading the power and ground to the amplifier rather than the source unit. Upgrading the wiring to the speakers is gonna be a chore, since it's an 8-speaker system with dedicated outputs from the amplifier to e...

To my knowledge, only the 90-91 n/a 5-spds share the same MAF sensor as the turbos. The easy way to know for sure is to take a look at the housing. If the n/a legacy has the same metal casing, it's the same as the turbos. If it's the black plastic housing, it's not.

In my experience (and a lot of people on this board know I have mucho experience with these codes) is that when there is a problem with one of the sensors, that ALL of the codes are thrown. My guess is that the ecu is getting an abnormal reading from one sensor and doesn't realize whether the wrong ...

Thanks for the info. That is inteseting that it uses both MAP and MAF for fuel, all cars that I have delt with in the past uses one or the other. My guess is that subaru uses a MAF sensor to get by the more stringent emissions laws (even back in the day). LEV status or something like that. Typicall...

Upgraded factory stereo wire?

Now that I've gotten the headlights done, I'm curious if I'd see any benefit to upgrading the stock stereo wiring, mainly the power and ground. The radio uses an external amplifier, if that makes any difference. Would a wiring upgrade make any difference in sound?

As was stated earlier, the ecu uses the MAP sensor to measure the amount of pressure in the manifold (aside - the reason why you probably didn't get it with your engine is because it's attached to the passenger strut tower so it's not on the recycled engine). The MAF sensor is used by the ecu to mea...

Cool... That's pretty good then. I just realized something to point out about fused relays -- in order to get the full protection of the fuse, you'll have to mount them very close to the +12v source. Remember that the wire going from the alternator or battery to the fuse is unprotected. Good point....

Checking the voltage drop I found that the ground side (that I had soldered a connection to) wasn't exactly perfect. I went ahead and resoldered the connection and now I only have a .02 voltage drop.
