Re: Tyler's Legacy SS.... under an impreza shell
Assuming those are the lash numbers, the front intakes seem a little tight, but otherwise it looks okay. The valves aren't bent, are they?
FYI, you can 'erase' sharpie with sharpie. Just scribble over and wipe off before it dries.

Re: Misfire and stuttering under load.
Well I finally figured it out. Took it to a local speed shop and the dude there was super knowledgeable. Had a whole table of spare parts ready for when I got there. He threw a used maf on and voila! Car runs great now! Check engine light has gone off as well and stays off. It's still slow haha but...

Car looks great, as always.
It really is sad that enthusiast forums are falling by the wayside. Especially with the knowledge base like we have here on the BBS. I hope it never goes away.

Sorry to hear about your frustrations. Stick with it, it'll be worth all the trouble.
Did you verify cam timing is correct?
Check ECU grounds?

A compression and leak-down test would be a good start, especially if you suspect the head gaskets.

Cool to see progress. Sucks when life gets in the way of important things (like racing). That oil pickup is an important one in Subaru engines, good that it's going in before it becomes a very big problem.

Oktoberfest '17!...?
So.... it's been a couple years, but I'm thinking about having another (somewhat semi-)annual LegacyCentral Oktoberfest get-together. It would probably be on or around the 15th of Oct, this year at my place in Tenino. We usually grill brats, share beers and Subie stories, and have an impromptu unoff...

Re: Misfire and stuttering under load.
Filled up today to find that the car got 25.4MPG. Not the best that she's ever done, but a definite improvement. And the with the stuttering/hesitation gone when she gets into positive manifold pressure, I'm less hesitant to take her there. I read through the whole thread and realized that you neve...

Re: Misfire and stuttering under load.
Well... she runs smoother and the hesitation seems to be gone after swapping out the coil pack. I just filled up, so I'll be able to see if my mileage went back up from the ~21-23mpg it was down to.
Oldandslow, did you install a new replacement coil pack?

Re: Jamal's blanket suspension recommendations
Hi there. My suspension is very tired and I'm looking for a cheap replacement. I'll need the whole assembly, coils, struts and all the bits and pieces. Is KYB the way to go and is there no way to get it in a package including everything? Other members have had very good luck with H&R springs on...

Re: Misfire and stuttering under load.
this is a shot in the dark but i had a similar issue with an intermittent misfire and it ended up being the ignition coil. there were hairline fractures that were causing a short circuit. it was raining one day i opened the hood and you could see the electricity arching. I upgraded to a MSD8239. Im...

You could always add an auxiliary p/s cooler. Have you considered going to manual steering?

Re: Tyler's Legacy SS.... under an impreza shell
I thought the lower arms were the fusible link. I suspect that if the crossmember is getting bent, you have bigger problems. Unless there is a weak point in its design that is bending/deforming under 'normal' rally use. I might have to pick up a few of those magazines. They sure aren't cheap, though...

Re: ej22 to ej25d swap...not as easy as it looks
I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. I've had the same experience with machine shops. They mostly seem to be focused on domestic stuff. It's worthwhile to find one familiar with import engines and Subaru, specifically. Would it be very hard to make an adapter to mount the 2.2 IAC to the 2.5 manifold?...
