Re: which one ? 98 outback 2.5 vs 01 outback 3.0 ??
I can't agree. Used car prices now are very, very different from what they were 10-15 years ago. They've come down in the last year or so, but a couple of years ago, used car prices were through the roof. In 2011, my best friend bought a 2006 Volvo V50 for his wife with 70k miles on it, from a frien...

Re: which one ? 98 outback 2.5 vs 01 outback 3.0 ??
As a 3rd-gen owner, I'm obviously going to be biased. But I say go with the 2001 H6. The 6cyls are less common than the 4cyls, but I've got about 5 years of Subaru dealer experience now and I have no recollection of ever seeing an EZ engine have a catastrophic mechanical failure. All they do is leak...

Sloppy shifter? READ THIS FIRST!
There is a staggering number of threads on this forum about sloppy shifters and how to fix them. So in hopes of preventing even more unnecessary threads from being created, I've compiled this as a reference of sorts to where all the necessary information is in one place. So, if you're new to the for...

Re: 94 FWD Legacy sloppy shifter fix with part numbers
Cancel your order if you can, because honestly, you're not going to need most of what you ordered. If your shifter is sloppy, all you need is two of #4, which should be 35035AA030, and two of #5, which should be 35035KA030. Those are the bushings that go bad all the time and cause a sloppy shifter. ...

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
They were Dunlop Direzza DZ101s. Now I've got friends who like the Z1 Star Specs for autocross and stuff like that, who don't care how completely unliveable they are as DD tires. But I don't race my car, so I'd rather sacrifice some grip in the interest of longevity and the ability to hear myself th...

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
Update: I had to replace my tires for a couple reasons... first, I had this puncture on the edge of the sidewall (it actually happened about 3k miles after I got the tires; I was so pissed) that I plugged 3 times until it finally got to the point where it would lose all air pressure overnight... htt...

Re: Question about my 91 ss vin number
No, the 10th digit refers to the model year, the M in your case. The background information behind the 3rd digit is very cryptic; the full story has always eluded me. A JF2 or 4S4 car is considered an MVP (whatever that means) while a JF1 or 4S3 car is considered a passenger vehicle. It's something ...

Welcome to the forum.
JF1/JF2 means the car was assembled in Japan, while 4S3/4S4 means the car was assembled in the United States.

Re: NASIOC gets owned
That exact same situation has happened on this board, too. Several years ago, NICO was telling us about his Legacy and making some pretty outrageous claims about it in the best English he could manage and quite a few members (including me) called him out on it. And guess what? NICO is the real deal,...

Yes, yes, it is.
But I'm kinda surprised you didn't notice the car in the foreground of the picture... this being a Subaru forum, after all.

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
Thanks for the kind words, jbclegacy. Josh, yeah, when I realized the turbo heat shields couldn't be removed without taking off the intercooler, I said to myself, aloud, "I'm not in Kansas anymore!" But cars like this simply require more patience. Without going off the deep end (as we ofte...

turbo970, that's just a pic I took with my iPhone and half-assedly post-processed in the PS Express app. It's an HDR photo... notice how you see a double bathing suit on the one girl's butt? Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
I'm being lazy and C&P'ing this from my Facebook, but I finally got the shifter and brakes done. The B4 is finally running and driving, after being up on jackstands for... well... way longer than it should have been. What was done: - Brakes. 02 WRX front rotors, 00 Outback(!) front pads, 05 Lega...

It blows my mind to think about when this car was still N/A, 4EAT, and FWD and to see what it's become.

I'll get the occasional look due to the exhaust and the cam, but other than that, I don't care.
Ask yourself....do you modify and drive your car for you or for someone else? It should be for you.....and fuck what anyone else thinks.

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
The B4 is gonna be down for a while... this is about the worst ratio of time/effort-to-repair benefit of any work I've ever done on a car. So you all can see why I'm bitching and complaining so much about these shifter bushings, here's a pic of where they are in relation to the exhaust: https://farm...

The last year for the EJ22 in the Legacy was 99, but it was still available in the GC/GF/GM Impreza through 01, IIRC.

Re: My JDM Legacy B4 RSK
My title, my registration, and all my insurance paperwork use the original short VIN. There are still lots of pre-1980 cars (before standardized VINs) on the road, so gov't computer systems don't freak out like everyone thinks they do when VINs aren't 17 digits. I got some parts from the UK yesterda...
