There are no internal differences to the turbo and NA trannies. If the tranny is healthy, you will be fine.

Get a used transmission (and diff if necessary) and swap it in. Not really as easy as you make it sound. The 5MT SS with 3.9FD was a vehicle with only several thousand of them ever made. Because it's got a pull style clutch AND a 3.9 it's a pretty rare bird. It's different than the USDM WRX because...

Pretty sure all the 90-91 non-turbo engines used the 3 rectangular connectors, while all the turbos had 2 rectangular, and 1 round connector. Not the NA 90 wagon that I did my first swap on. Maybe it was a US made vehicle versus a Japanese vehicle made thing. I know we've found discrepancies in the...

Just make sure it's a 92-94 engine harness. The 90-91 engine harness with the round connector won't work with your chassis harness. You need the engine harness that has 3 rectangular connectors. Then all you need to do is move around a few pins at where the ECU plugs in to the chassis harness and yo...

Matt Monson would put the Ej20G into the car just as it sits and start driving it. Then he would take his own sweet time with rebuilding the Ej22T bottom end. Then he would decide that it's time to settle down and get married and buy a house, so he'd sell his pride and joy of a '91 SS with an EJ20G ...

Also, I personally wouldn't run the high pressure cap. I've seen problems occur with it. interesting. what kind of problems? Overheating problems. That cap is fine when there's a second one set at .9 bar on the radiator itself. But on the captured system where that's the only release it's too much ...

Greg,
That's probably got a 7mm pump on it. You can upgrade it to either a 9mm NA Ej25 pump or a 10mm Ej205 pump. All oil pumps are interchangeable. I run the 10mm on my 2.5RS.

You would have to rewire the whole car to do that. Not only would the ECU not plug in, but the majority of the engine mounted sensors wouldn't work either. I would say your best bet is to plan on using an Ej22T ECU with the Revtronix upgrade. You can wire it in pretty easily when you get to the poin...

Here's my CL listing. If you don't know what this car is, feel free to ask. I'm happy to educate. Also, please be aware that the price on CL is to keep the trolls and bottom feeders away. I am very negotiable on that price.

I think the EJ25D is only compatible with phase 1 DOHC heads. I could be wrong though. Yep, you could be. ;-) The single best part off an Ej25D that would be an upgrade for an Ej22 would be the block itself. That's the "high compression frankenstein". As for other stuff, not really unless...

There's no reason to lock the cams as long as you bring it to TDC before you take off the tensioner and timing belt. Just keep your fingers clear of the cams as the loaded ones have a tendency to snap shut. If you search deep enough you'll find pictures of what my pinky looked like after it rolled b...

The Ej22e NA pump is a 9mm pump. The Ej22T turbo pump is a 10mm pump. While it is shimmed a little more aggressively than the current WRX 10mm pump, getting a standard USDM WRX pump would be fine. You could also get an 11mm STi pump if you wanted. As was mentioned they all bolt up. If you want just ...

Strapped to a pallet to a business address it will cost around $300-350. To a residential address at least another $100 more. OR, the right way to do it is strip it down to the shortblock. A shortblock weighs 100lbs when packaged in a microwave oven box. It will cost about $100 to ship. In my experi...

It's a td04, but it's better trimmed than a USDM td04. Mine put out 240chp at 12psi. on my old swap. I wouldn't change it unless you are putting one of the vf series turbos on there instead (vf30, vf34, etc).
