Re: Tools...
It doesn't take a whole lot of work in the USA to be able to label it "made in USA" unfortunately.

Re: Which Replacement Headlight Assembly?
Where are you seeing options for OEM headlight assemblies? If you just need a replacement light go to a junkyard, super easy to clean up the lenses to look like new. EDM lights and/or projector retrofit are your best options for light output. If you mean bulbs then don't bother getting anything fanc...

Re: OEM recommends 7,500 mile oil change interval.
I've definitely read that it's just in general that too often is bad, not just on new, but there's a good possibility that whoever said that was thinking of the new engine break in.
Re: Tools...
Yup plenty. 1/2" breaker bar with 3 foot pipe does the trick every time. Helps to remove the staked in edge, of course. Now days I just hook up my 1/2" craftsman professional impact gun. If you're gonna buy craftsman buy the professional tools, their other tools are junk. Yea the two I br...

Re: OEM recommends 7,500 mile oil change interval.
Changing your oil too often can actually be harmful to your engine, it's not just the cost involved, you actually shouldn't change it every 3k(at least for normal driving). But full disclosure I'm not 100% on that, I've read it but nobody seems to be totally sure. Your oil filter wears out faster th...

Ever taken off an axle nut? I've broken a few half inch breaker bars on those damn things.kimokalihi wrote:3/4"! Damn. Never had a need for anything that big. My half inch husky torque wrench goes to 250ft-lbs which I've never seen a bolt that required that much torque.
Re: Tools...
Mainly just have a costco set of Crescent sockets and basic tools, all I've ever had, seen plenty of work and no real damage. More recently I've spent more money than the whole tool set on specialized tools for my M3, who would have thought the tools would be the expensive part of working on the car...

Re: Alternator on it's way out? or marginally bad?
Yup sounds like it to me. Mine was doing that too, more severe by the time I noticed, eventually it just started dying after I drove it for more than 20 minutes or so when I'd come to a stop, new alternator fixed it. EDIT: Actually that's kind of weird that the voltage stays constant. But alternator...

Problem with plastidip is you're fairly limited in spray cans, so it gets kinda pricey if you don't do blue/red/black/white, I guess unless you wanna brush it on...

Re: 05 Sti seat ?'s
They bolt in but are couple inches taller than stock. Drivers side has height adjustment, however, but 6 footers likely won't fit in your passenger seat again. ;) I have a 6'3ish friend who fits in my passenger seat, not sure how, since I barely fit with my seat all the way down, haha. Mine are TR ...

Re: Anyone else getting ~17mpg in short trips?
I get 17 in my AWD Turbo, so that sounds low for a 2WD NA to me...Spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter. One trick i'm going to resort to is something u just mentioned. That's running higher tire pressure. For example, my tires called for 35 psi, but i'm going to inflate it to 44 psi. I think this sh...

Re: Time to get some new tires for the WRX rims. Suggestions
Why 205/55 and not 205/50? I had some Pirelli P4's that I liked, good wet and dry traction and not too expensive, seemed to wear well under normal conditions, wore them out though with poor alignment and from rubbing on the strut. Now I have Fuzion ZRi's since that's what came on my M3, and they suc...

Having some battery problems
I've been having some battery issues lately, my car will start up fine when it's cold, 14V while running, then as I drive it'll slowly drop, gets to where I have to rev it a bit to keep it going at lights, and turn off my accessories, if I drive for too long then park, I can't start it up again, but...
