lack of power, slooow to boost- intermittent
so I'm having some very intermittent power loss/ laggy under boost. It doesnt seem to matter what temperature it is outside, or if the engines hot or cold, its just a dog sometimes. lack of power, floor it and count to three before it decides it wants to get aup and go. or its running perfectly , ma...

-Installed the garage door front lip. Came out good but probably could of done it better by taking off the front bumper, plus did it at night with just cell phone light. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g76/socalwb/IMG_0411_zps64638d3e.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g76/socalwb/IMG_0412_zps...

Update: Headgaskets blew at 199k, I guess 18psi was just too much for the old girl to handle. I scored a CLOSED DECK EJ20G from a friend for extremely cheap. So right now that's being put together, and will be going in the car in the next few weeks. It hasnt been driven in about 2 months now, so i'...

Re: VF28 without engine management
I am 21 days in and have had trips up to 130 miles of hard driving in -20 to -30 degree weather and all the way up to 60 degrees. I believe all of the elements for failure had presented itself throughout the last 21 days and the turbo hasn't leaked a drop. I am happy to report there is no signs of ...

Re: time to upgrade my upgrade - 92 ls 2.2e turbo to 2.2t
figuring piston slap as it completely dissapears when engine is up to temp, also going to add a shim to the oil pump as was recommended as I have a sti pump, maybe not quite up to par with the oil squirters and hlas. everything has arrived for my 2.2e engine build. just curious on head gaskets, last...

Re: time to upgrade my upgrade - 92 ls 2.2e turbo to 2.2t
OK, engine in and running....runs good, boosts amazing, pulls hard....but..... i should have pulled it down and measured. I have a rap at startup, goes away after maybe a second or two max.. and an intermittent light down low resonant light knocking. I'm assuming the worst at this point ( rod bearin...

Re: VF28 without engine management
Everything is in and it stopped smoking with the new turbo in like all other times. The difference now is that I have a more vertically run line run to the back breather and don't have any point at which any condensation could pool and freeze. The line is now as close to stock as I can have it with...

Re: VF28 without engine management
I found a Garrett PDF explaining set-up and problems associated with turbos concerning leakage. This listing confirms my thoughts about the pcv system causing the problems. Especially since others are using the same oil lines as I have tried with no negative consequences. I will reinstall the turbo...

Re: VF28 without engine management
How was it finding room for the three cans? I was happy to find a spot for one! If you have one, you should shoot me a pic of your set-up. Right now my valve cover ports are connected to each other via the crossover pipe in the front and a single length of hose for the back ports. Wouldn't be getti...

Re: VF28 without engine management
I managed to get my turbo off and took out the pcv system today. Here are my findings and I welcome any advice or thoughts. 1. I checked out the turbo and all looks good on it. The VF28 even seems to have a restrictor built into the oil inlet at the base of where the line screws in. There was a lot...

th3e only difference I can see is a different part number jun 93 production and newer. 73045aa311 up to 0593 , 73054aa410 06/93 + , even the evap core is different for the latest model year. surely you can at worst disconnect and reclock it or make a bend in the alum. pipe?

Re: VF28 without engine management
I haven't checked that out yet but will after the next run. It has been intermittent oil burning and goes away after each turbo swap. I definitely should clean out my intercooler. I have done gravity drains on it but should take care of it. I have read some people used gas, diesel and soap and wate...
