Re: Stock EJ20G low boost?
How old is the coolant temperature sensor? Do you have any check engine codes? The GFB manual controller *should* work of course. but if your car has a serious problem that the factory electronics are detecting and tapering back boost because of, then adding a manual boost controller could be bad f...

Re: Stock EJ20G low boost?
Okay it's been some time, but this is starting to really annoy me... The car is still doing the same stuff, only charging what seems to be half of the boost it should. For mods in the intake I have the Apexi intake w/coffee can mod included (yes the restrictor pill is in, and I've tried without aswe...

Re: Walbro 255 on Subaru Legacy
Ive installed them on my SS's over the years. They are smaller than the factory pump. Louder too. But fit fine. Mine came with a filter that is I dont see in that link, and im not sure if the factory piece bolts on. I think the pump and hose clamps are laying on the filter haha! But that's good to ...

Re: Need tips on Legacy rust repair
First, how long are you going to keep the car? The best thing is to cut the rust out and section a clean piece in. You can get do good by sand blasting or acid bath the area, using epoxy primer to seal it up. Then use marine-tec to fill the hole witch is an epoxy. So what I'm saying is clean the ru...

Need tips on Legacy rust repair
Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to fabricate new metal at the spot in the wheel well, because I have a small hole in the wheel well on the small shelf thing that leads to the channels of the car.. http://i1349.photobucket.com/albums/p750/FeskarBlauk/Rust%202_zpsjbiaddyc.jpg http://i1349.photobu...

Re: Exhaust with Wastegate?
If I had to guess....probably somewhere around 250. However that's a pure guess. I'd suggest searching to see what others with the 550's and Robtune get. 250 is a bit low? Haha, I've read people with robtune, injectors, exhaust, etc.. But no turbo, not a fmic and such getting around 280, but how we...

Re: Exhaust with Wastegate?
Yeah, Robtune was planned, mostly because everybody uses it and it's good... And if I'm not mistaken you can get it with launch controll? But yeah.. Okay, I'll slowly upgrade the fuel and air system first, and then the exhaust and turbo when the holiday money comes in (yes, we get holiday money in n...

Re: Exhaust with Wastegate?
Ahh. I see your intention. You want to be able to control the volume of your exhaust. For this you could do an electronic cutout as close to the turbo as you can get it. I wouldn't suggest an electronic one though as they tend to all be junk. Having an on demand roar come from your car would be coo...

Re: Exhaust with Wastegate?
Just to be clear on what a wastegate does, since you mentioned "after the turbo," it is plumbed into the exhaust before the turbo to allow excess exhaust to bypass the turbine once you hit the targeted boost (if there was no wastegate, or it stayed closed, the boost could just keep increa...

Re: Changing valve cover gasket (engine in) and what oil to
And one more thing.. Whils't I'm having the cover open, is there anything I should look for or clean? The cover has been leaking sometime now, so I'm going to dunk the outside in brake cleaner and clean it, but maybe I should adjust the valves?

Re: Changing valve cover gasket (engine in) and what oil to
As far as I know you should be able to change the valve cover gasket with the engine still in the car. Make sure you also replace the valve cover bolt grommets as well as they are notorious for leaking as well. As for the oil type....it's really a preference and everyone has theirs. Run the require...

Re: Exhaust with Wastegate?
Ah. What turbo would you be using with it? In theory, installing one is easy - you weld the turbo's wastegate closed, and weld an EWG on the up pipe, and connect it to a vacuum source, right? I've ridden in cars with them, hard to say how much of a difference they made, because they were on bigger ...

Re: Exhaust with Wastegate?
No it was the External Wastegate dump from the turbo.. I didn't know what it was before I researched it.mike-tracy wrote:I think you are talking about a blow off valve.
People can use them, but they are for noise and not performance on these older cars.

Re: Exhaust with Wastegate?
I think you're referring to an external wastegate/dump valve. This is more a function of the turbo than the exhaust. The stock and all factory replacement turbos have internal wastegates. You can make a twin-dump downpipe that keeps the wastegate gasses separate for a while and then dumps back in. ...

Exhaust with Wastegate?
Hello. Around summertime I'm getting a custom made exhaust for my turbo Legacy in a shop, and I'm going for a 3" turbo back with no cats, but how about installing a wastegate also, whilst I'm getting the exhaust done why not. I've seen some people having it just after the turbo and into a small...

Re: Really bad MPG (Legacy Turbo 93)
OK, so 7.25L/75km works out to 9.7L/100km which is 24.33 mpg. That's on the good side of normal for these old cars. ;) I am using American gallons, as English gallons are a different size and would throw another confusing variable into the mix. I am pretty sure the mile is the same on land though. ...

Re: Really bad MPG (Legacy Turbo 93)
Are you sure it uses 1L per mile? What were you measuring in L/100km? if I got my math right, 1L/1Mile is just under 3.785 mpg or 60.7L/100km I truly hope that's a mistake. I'm not sure if it's right, because I used a conversion through Google.. But i'm not sure if a mile in Norway is the same as E...

Re: Really bad MPG (Legacy Turbo 93)
My car uses 28 MPG? Not sure if that's right.. I measure in Liters per km/mile, not gallon per miles.. It was around 1 Liter per mile (per 10 KM ).. This is with no driving above 3000 rpm and casual usage of the gas pedal, and an average speed of 40-45 mph.. Mods are: Just a backbox, stage 1 clutch,...
