Re: to go forged or not to go forged? that is my qtion!
For those goals I would seriously look into a STI short block. You can get them for around 1,800 new. https://www.flatironstuning.com/p-970-2 ... block.aspx

Re: EJ22T stroker w/ EJ20 WRX heads Comression?
On my hybrid engine I will be running the stock HG thickness for the EJ25D heads, but with a bore size correct for a EJ22T. Cometic makes a decent amount of off the shelf thicknesses for the EJ22T. Here is my thread that shows the relocation of the thrust bearing; http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewto...

I bought the stock water pump from Subaru for my Legacy last month; it has the cast impeller. The gates kit I bought has the stamped version. The OEM one was around 60 bucks.

Re: Mister Anderson's 91 Legacy SS (big update 1/3/2014)
are you sure there are no camshaft options for the 20g? i found quite a bit, being that they are from a wrx... The WRX 20G cams will fit into the Legacy 20G heads, but the WRX cams have a different lobe profile for the buckets vs the legacy's stub rocker. There are a few more issues with the Legacy...

Re: Coolant half green, half orange...
I would flush the system and put fresh coolant in. As long as it is not oil you will be fine. Oil will cause the rubber hoses to swell and weaken. I drove around with a leaking water oil cooler and had no real effects on the engine besides the rubber hoses going bad.

EJ22T NUMBER 5 THRUST BEARING.
Good afternoon, I figured some of you would like some info on how about getting this done; machining the block to accept the number 5 thrust bearing. Bearing Service Co. in Portland, OR managed to do this (they actually have done it before). I had them do all my machine work on my EJ22T. Just for th...

Re: EJ22T rebuild... want forged internals... advice?
Yeah, Delta Cams has the 220 grind which is what I have and is the torque/street cam. The 230 grind is the race cam and is geared more for higher rpm running I believe. My idle is "alright". It's a little lopey, but I'm ok with that. Engine vacuum is around 10-12 in-Hg at idle. With the s...

Re: EJ22T rebuild... want forged internals... advice?
I'll add my 2 cents in I went with Wiseco pistons, Brain Crower rods and a brand new 2011 2.5 STI crank (my crank was trashed). I have Legacy RS EJ20G heads but I am debating on trying to find a set of 20k heads. The block had to be machined to accept the number 5 thrust bearing. I see that you live...

Re: 2.2 turbo knock. VId inside (UPDATED 6/20)
Yeah I blocked all the vacuum lines. The stock ECU is still in. This car's problem has been elusive lately, it's rather annoying. My uncle has a spare MAF that is the same one as mine so I'll try that and see if that helps. I also have spare sensors for everything else that I will try, If that that ...

Re: 2.2 turbo knock. VId inside (UPDATED 6/20)
Okay so I pulled the intake off and started the car. I then put my hand over the throttle body to block air flow..... it didn't kill the engine, it really didn't even struggle. Also, my up pipe gasket is blown, I have more exhaust in the engine bay than exhaust coming out of the tail pipe. I also re...

Re: Re: 2.2 turbo knock. VId inside (UPDATED 6/20)
Those readings are at idle. The strange thing is I have full power after 3k rpm. I drove the car yesterday morning with no problems, than I went to move it later that night and upon start up it started running funky again. I'll take some readings and check everything over. At a glance all the hoses ...

Re: 2.2 turbo knock. VId inside (UPDATED 6/20)
Okay so the knock had been gone for around 3k km.... until today. So I connected the green connectors and drove the car, and it finally through some codes, 41, and 23. My idle is all over the place, very very hesitant. Sounds like its not running on all 4. When I rev out to past 3k (ish) RPMS it sto...

Re: Drive plate/Flex plate question...
The N/A's have a smaller flex plate and the turbos have a bigger one. If you need the part number I will dig mine out of the shop. It only has like 4k miles on it so the part number tag is still there. BTW when I changed mine it looked exactly like yours, center spun. Oh yeah I picked mine up from 1...

Re: 2.2 turbo knock. VId inside
Yeah I checked all those out when I took the rocker assembly apart. They appeared to be in good shape. After about 300 miles the knock has yet to return. I changed the oil and filter. There was a little tiny bit of brass in it but that is most likely from when the turbo blew about 2k miles ago; othe...

Re: 2.2 turbo knock. VId inside. UPDATE
UPDATE: The knock has disappeared again and I cannot get it to knock again. I pulled both rocker assembly off and checked them. Everything seemed to be in good working order, no excessive clearance or play. I still plan on pulling the engine and tearing it down to find the exact cause of the knock. ...

Re: 2.2 turbo knock. VId inside
Josh, I am fairly certain it's a rod. Its so bad now that I am afraid to start it. I had to trailer it home last night because I was afraid of damaging the block. I guess I am in a for a rebuild lol. I'll post the process in my build thread. It might be a while since I am fairly busy ATM with college.

Re: 2.2 turbo knock. VId inside (UPDATED 6/20)
So I have acquired a knock in my 91 turbo. It does it when I first start it up. It stops after about 3 miles or so of driving. It does not matter if the car is hot or cold and does it after about 15 minutes of sitting. I pulled the passenger side valve cover off and the HLAs do not appear to be coll...

Re: Center Diff Question
I used the phase two transfer case and transmission case but used the phase one gear set and shafts. If it works one way it should work the other way. The shafts are identical between the phase one and phase two. The bolt patterns and even the bolts are the same between transfer cases. Now the hocke...
