Re: Engine won't stay at operating temp

I take it the the N/A was a 5-speed as well? It may just be that the turbo has a more robust cooling system that the n/a you are used to. This is an interesting occurrence. I often try to coast down as many hills as I can to try to save a little gas, but hadn't ever thought about it cooling down unt...

Re: Engine won't stay at operating temp

Well, coasting for 6 miles, you aren't generating any heat so this makes sense. 6 miles is a pretty damn long way to coast, plus since it is running on compression, it is cycling cool air through and not injecting any fuel. All this adds up to 'gonna cool shit down' Is the car fully warmed up when s...

Re: Window Adjustment

Mine are doing the same thing. The stabilizers are pretty cheap. 62310AA001 for the outer and 62310AA010 for the inner. I believe it's 2 of each per door, but I may be mistaken.

Re: Messed up idle

If it has one of those bypass needles, I would suspect that. I had the one on mine back out after not touching it, and it was causing similar issues. Was driving me crazy trying to figure it out, but once I did I loc-tited it in place when I set it. Also, there should be a way to check if the idle s...

Re: Turbo Compressor Housing change-out

The problem is I can't re-clock it, since the 90 degree inlet is welded to the compressor housing, if I pointed the outlet where I wanted it, the inlet would be pointing at the throttle body. It is welded to basically the same orientation as the stock little VF11. Good to hear your thoughts on the c...

Re: Turbo Compressor Housing change-out

I guess my main question is whether the 90 degree elbow to the inlet will fit or not. I am willing to go into uncharted territory with the compressor housing, but am sure someone can say if the elbow works.

Re: Turbo Compressor Housing change-out

I have considered that, but I would have to get it modified twice if I go that route (once for each intake setup). That housing should be the same internally barring any internal modifications by deadbolt on the current one. I may get it to try, then if it doesn't fit with the 90 degree setup, I can...

Turbo Compressor Housing change-out

So, I have a TD05(H?)-16G that was modified to work with the factory intake setup, so it has a 90 degree elbow welded to it and the output is clocked upwards (it's the special one Deadbolt used to sell before he disappeared, not the normal 90 degree inlet). I would like the outlet to point straight ...

Re: RobTune on restricted engine

By restrictor, he means an inlet air restriction pre-turbo with a diameter of 34mm. Required for his rally class, I would take it. It is the same kind of thing they used on the WRC cars to restrict power output.

Don't suppose you can get your hands on a pair of pre-facelift EDM corner lights? I got the headlights already, but would like the corners too.

I love/hate stupid solutions like that. I love them because they are usually easy to fix, but hate them because they were a problem to begin with.

On my '06 5-speed swap I had a similar issue, so I just drilled and tapped it for one of the studs out of the rear diff rear cover and widened the hole on the starter to accept it.

Re: Nasty rattling on deceleration

Mine is pretty prevalent. I may switch out the gear oil (I am currently running Redline lightweight shockproof, which they say makes it worse) and change up my tire pressures a bit to try to calm it down a little, but as long as I know what it is I can live with it until it wears out.

Re: Nasty rattling on deceleration

Good find. Sounds like exactly what it is. Guess I'll just ignore it then. Well, maybe I'll pull everything apart to replace the shitty throwout bearing, but if that is all it is I can live with it.

Well, not the axles. Swapped them from side to side and got no change. Gonna have to pull everything apart, it looks like.

Nasty rattling on deceleration

So, my clutch finally gave up the ghost. Just shy of 100k miles on an OEM '06 WRX clutch that came with my '06 tranny and rear diff. I replaced it with a Clutchmasters clutch and lightweight flywheel about a week ago. While I had everything torn down, I noticed the boot was torn on one of my front C...

Re: Boost gauge flutter / oscillation under boost...?

I put a bit of cotton in mine last night, and it helped. Apparently my restrictor pill was little more than a coupler, but the cotton greatly reduced what I was seeing. Instead of +/- .5 psi, it's down to +/- .1.

Re: Brake/Reverse lights are out..

Also, be sure to check the grounds. I had one of my brake lights go out, and it ended up being a crappy ground instead of a bulb being out. That is also the most likely common link between them. Taillights are much dimmer, and thus seem to be able to tolerate a weaker ground than brake lights and re...

Pretty common problem. I've bought two now from two different members both promising me they were not broken and guess what, they were both broken. Not happy about that. I've been reluctant to try buying one from another forum member since and I'm sick of it flapping in the wind. The junkyard is fa...

I am in awe of this car. Looking awesome. Also love the Possum Bourne connection. I have a model I picked up while in australia of one of his GC Impreza rally cars. The man was amazing. Also, I know Josh asked this already, but can you find the rear quarter triangle trim? Mine broke, so I got some o...

Re: What PS pump on head swapped Leggy?

I can get the lines modified easy. There is a local shop that does hydraulic hoses that can modify mine to fit.

Do you have any pics of the EJ20G or EJ20H reservoir? I may be able to modify the stocker to be similar.
