I think my mom's car need an engine
As it states,my mom called and said, it knocking when she lets off the gas. Which is really disappointing considering it was new 6 years ago from subaru. It a 98 outback with 2.5 quad cam engine. I haven't went by to hear it but that engine never ran right from day one. It vibrates so bad that the h...

Re: rallyak car's and journeys

Re: Emmm.... Now I'm Clueless.
Try putting your stock air box back in and see if that changes anything, my n/a didn't like me changing the way it breaths. My idle was high and the cel would come on 24 & 49. I ended up putting the box back and changed my TB with a spare ( possible bad sensor) runs great now.

Re: Vss issue
I've cleared the code every day last week and that's the only one that pops up. It seams to work fine for the first hour or two then the cel comes on, tap the dash and it may work for 10 or 50 miles no real consistency. I will try to pull the cluster and check the connections.

Vss issue
I've been having an intermittent problem with my vss in the dash cluster. It's not the cable, speedo works fine but when the cel come on I just hit the dash right above the cluster and it starts working again. My question is could it be a bad solder connection since I've already resolder the hvac. O...

I would stick with oem one either used or new. I believe you can make it work but not sure how accurate or the install.

Re: Inoperative fuel gauge
Not sure, but easy to pull out to compair. The sensor is on the left side(drivers side) of the tank. Their is an access panal in the trunk (sedan) or under carpet ( wagon) unbolt it and pull it out. Then you could take an ohm meter and confirm that it bad.

Re: rallyak car's and journeys
It's finally summer, but now my wife wants her a/c fixed. I belive every thing works in it, just low on gas (R12), my car is full but it cut off after running for about 5 to 10 min. After that the clutch will cycle off and on not long enought to keep the air cold. I'm not sure if I have a restrictio...

Re: rallyak car's and journeys
Hey guys, work has had me busy driving all over the state and very long hours. The last week I've had a sticky front caliper and my mpg has dropped because of it. So to day I had time to change it and fix the body ground on my wife's car. http://i66.tinypic.com/w6xzib.jpg I even put some high perfor...

Re: rallyak car's and journeys
thanks guys, but I painted that way. I was tired of the plain jane look like every outher white wagon. The first time I painted that way was 9 years ago and I recently just repainted it ( two year resurrection) I wished I posted all my progress because I have done lots of rust repair and preventive ...

Re: 2.2 turbo knock. VId inside
I'm just guessing, possibly timing belt idler, the big one on top the tensioner pulley. The sound seamed to get louder when directly in front of the engine. With the abnormal beat of the tick I would look there. When that bearing goes it hits the crankshaft sprocket and also comes and goes.

Could possibly be a weak alternator, and only presents it self when raining with wipers on and heater blower. Mine would do that same thing in the winter with all the accessories on. On mine I also added a 4 gadge wire from alternater power post straight to battery, that way all the power dont have t...

Re: Door and ignition key lock cylinders need replacing.
I just had new keys made for my wife's car, it was getting hard to unlock the doors and start the car without having to wiggle the key. It cost me 35.00 to make the new keys and to rekey an old drivers door lock. I figured it wasn't worth my time to do it my self. I took passengers side lock out my ...

I would clean all the connections on the battery, starter and the grounds and see if that fixes the problem. As for the water leak at the windshield is rust that has worked it way under the paint and water is leaking, well that's what happend on mine from the glass guy cutting the paint and didn't pr...

Re: idler tensioner and pulleys
I'm sure every one here will say oem but I've used ones on eBay without any problems. On the other hand 2.2s is a non interference motor and if one fails it doesn't hurt any thing. Also some idlers have double bearings (those would be best) that has saved me once when an oem one failed with 370,000 ...

Re: Rear wheel bearing 92 Legacy wagon
Double check when you install the new seals that they fit tight in the housing. I've had problems with non oem seals sliding in with just my fingers. Those will allow water and debre in and destroy the new bearing. Oem seals are more money but is cheaper than doing it twice.
