pp6 or egreddy when de-tuning ?

Post by N1446 »

i ve run out of patience running SUPER rich

i m only able to sucessfully drive the car when it is at operating temp

i have a EJ25D running on the original '91 2.2T ECU & MAF and i m swimming in fuel, obviously
-
i m about to change-out the turbo fuel pump for the N/A fuel pump and also switch the Turbo MAF for an N/A one from either a 2.2 or a 2.5

i m changing the plugs for NGKs as i m not sure what is in there at the moment

i ran a bottle of redline injector cleaner through it and its seems to have settled the idle to the point where it near stalls

.. should i still be using 91 octane or does it matter with no turbo ?

.. is there a way to trick the turbo ECU to only fuel at atmospheric ?

.. should i be looking into engine management, piggypack ECU ?

mmmrrr..

If you're running a turbo ECU on a non-turbo engine, it's going to be running very rich. piggy back is probably your best bet.

Without ecu tuning (piggy back, revtronix, etc), the MAF scaling in the ECU is majorly off. The NA MAF has maxes out around 220 g/sec while the turbo MAF maxes out around 155 g/sec -- both are obviously a 0-5V range.

I've got graphs to prove the point if required...

is a pp6 a good start for turning this type of thing ?

the idle oscilates for two-three minutes on cold startup
91 octane seems to calm it down a bit

in the lower range its rough and the car needs to be warm before its managable

i installed new plugs and they seem to help

pp6 or egreddy ? >> going turbo again in the distant future
