Throttle Body Seals??

Post by 92 Rally »

We did a boost leak test a while back and we had a HUGE leak at the throttle body seals (butterfly shaft seals). I was wondering if anyone had a part number for these things? They appear to be replaceable with some effort, but if I can not get the seals then I wont waste my time taking it apart any further.

It's not a replacable part from Subaru anyway. You could try and find a seal, but TB's are a dime a dozen really. So I'd recommend just replacing the TB.

My issue with replacing it with another used one is that it might leak as well. I will try a few things on this one before I go and buy a used one.

That is true, but I wouldn't say it's a common point of failure. I swapped around TB's a while back and never had any issues.

I would unstake that outer washer and then remove the seal. You should be able to measure it and use those dimensions to get a new replacement from a bearing house or seal specialist.

We were gonna do just that but them washers are in there GOOD! I am just gonna clean it good, grease the seals, and slap it back on.
