resonator delete

Post by dustin8511 »

wondering what size inlet and outlet are. it looks like 3"-3.5"?? and has anyone ever tried to use pcv pipe instead of metal.

One side of the resonator is close to 3", while the other side is close to 2.5".

Those are rough sizes, and you need a fitting for the aux. purge. Not saying it can't be done, but metal is probably a better way to go.

Keep in mind it doesn't take a big leak at all to cause problems. Go to some local independent exhaust shops and see what it costs to have one made, I had mine done for $15 with scrap pieces and some tubes I supplied

yea i realize metal is probly the better route. i just think its would be easier to fabricate with pvc pipe. which would be damn near as strong as metal. unless you use exhaust pipe. pvc can withstand some seriouse pressure and heat.

It might be easier, but damn it would look ghetto

lol Yeah it probably would, use black PVC maybe that would look better. PVC is so damn thick though. Doesn't seem like the ideal material to use for that application at all.

its is thick, but its not insanley thick. and i could also spray paint it black. obviously im just looking to get rid of the resonator as well as the in fender snorkel. just to hear the turbo more, and pvc would be way easyer to fabricate correctly for the application. and as far as looking ghetto...ive seen some of the metal ones on here, and i think pvc spray painted black will look a lot better then metal with a copper bung comming out the side. lol, looks like some one had there plumber do the job. just sayin..

It's going to be hot because it's in the engine bay. How long did you leave the engine warm up? Was it warmed up from a "cold" engine?

yes start it from cold and let it on until i reach the warm temperature

i dint even drove the car i was park testing some electrical sensor etc...

and i found this weird that it was hot like that just for being park.
touching the air box fliter was so damn hot,

im just asking maybe its normal
dunno just think its pretty much hot air going in the engine, maybe heat shield would be something good maybe its also bcuz i was stationary that make the engine be hot with no circulation.

anyway im working on getting the part for the intercooler just need find hose and silicone hose. shopping right now!

PVC will melt and give off toxic gasses, use ABS plastic instead, which is probably what you're referring to as "black pvc"
